With a final shove, he slammed Grayson against the cold metal of the morgue drawer. "This is her. Look at her! Look at the woman you abandoned—my sister!" Liam's voice was an icy blade, sharp and cutting. He forced Grayson to stare at my frozen body, lying there, still and lifeless. Grayson shut his eyes tight, his lips trembling as he muttered incoherently, "No, no, this isn't Belle. This can't be her! She's selfish, cruel, and vindictive. Someone like that doesn't just die—she wouldn't—she couldn't."

Walter rumbled as they all settled their attention on Mantilo. "These claw markings....the scent of bile....the black fluids...." The large Clan Head said at first instead of answering, glancing dispassionately at the damage and claw marks all about the room. "That's is a definite sign that what I had feared all this time is true." He finally began. "These things, these intruders are called Ghouls. I hadn't come across one of their kind in many decades. So when I first spotted the dead moose's and the black slime on the bodies my memory was tickled, but I couldn't exactly put the pieces together until I visited the library and recovered a few scrolls...."

He heard the soft shuffle of boots in the dirt, the heavy breathing of the ghoul a demon had created. Dangerous creatures, ghouls lived to serve their masters, feasting on tainted blood and the flesh of humans. They were vicious and without mercy. He waited, his power building and building, gathering until it flowed through him and poured out into the air around him. The ghoul approached from behind, shuffling closer, an evil being, clumsy but very cunning and impossibly strong. A human being would be in grave danger should he meet with a minion of the demon.

“I’m sorry, Liam. I don’t know how to sense them because I’ve never seen a ghoul before.” “Damn it,” Liam mutters under his breath, tightening his grip on my shoulder. “We need to get out of here. Fast.” Before I can even process what Liam is saying, the ghouls appear out of nowhere. Their ghostly figures seem to appear and disappear almost like a mirage, and their shrieking fills the air. Fear takes over me, especially when I hear a voice inside of my head say, ‘Purple-eyed wolf. I want to feast on your blood and take your powers!’

Yukiya shouted glancing at his rotten face. The ghoul sighed once again. He caressed the clay prosthetics and peered at her. "I was telling you the truth. I am indeed a ghoul. I was rescued by my highness a while ago. Back then, I didn't have my memory but little by little I regained it all….being an undead….it's not fun. Most of the time I stink. I have to use special perfumes to keep it in check. My jaw falls off all the time, so I have to control my words…. My life is not easy," he sighed with his head down.

The sudden move seemed to catch the Ghoul by surprise for only a few seconds, then as Brandon scrambled across the ground and tried to roll up to his feet the Ghoul was bearing down on him. This was it. This was the breaking point. This was his miracle. Something he could fucking kill. Something he could kill...and eat! With a shudder of need and desperation Brandon glared at the towering Ghoul with its long gangly arms, nearly dragging across the earth, and toxic black saliva staining its gaping fang filled maw and wide boney nostrils. Its long ears swiveled forward in aggression and its thick lips pulled back on a cackling yelp that made Brandon want to spit in its face.

Our room, a sanctuary of love and power within the Packhouse, was breached under the veil of morning's light. The air shifted, a cold, almost palpable darkness seeping into our room. I stirred, sensing the disturbance before it fully revealed itself. My instincts, honed through years of leadership and battle, screamed a warning. The faint, almost imperceptible sound of movement reached my ears. Ghouls. Creatures of the night, forsaken and lost, but deadly. Their presence here, in the heart of my territory, was a declaration of war.

Suddenly, a ghoul jumped in front of them and roared. Cassandra couldn't help but gasp. Sharp teeth, long sharp claws about 6ft tall. A very hideous and scary creature that eats humans and vampires, werewolves, faeries, and witches' flesh. A ghoul, one of Ikrur's loyal animals. "I have to fight it. Stay back, hon. I will handle this," Sebastian said and pushed Cassandra behind him.

The monstrous being unlocked the cell's door and placed the tray on the table. "Eat, drink." The being beckoned. Sally whinced in fear. "Oh don't give me that. You'll get over your fear soon. You should be grateful for you have become a permanent resident of the great Ancient Graveyard of Gladios, ruled by my master the majestic and wise Zilleh, a lich of unsurpassed power. Consider it a blessing. I am Hamid, a half-ghoul and chief grave digger of this graveyard." Hamid pulled a chair that was beisde the table. He pulled out a pipe out of his trousers' pocket and lit it with a lighter. The smoke was the same green mist that permeates the graveyard.

It fought, snarling, trying to tear free, but the vines tightened, glowing with green fire. “Hold it!” I shouted, standing My vision swam, but I didn’t wait for it to clear. I charged again, the blade gleaming with moonlight. My blood was singing — not the beautiful kind of singing, but the old, wild rhythm that wolves know when death comes close. I leapt, drove the blade into the creature’s throat, and twisted. Its roar turned into a wet gargle. Gaia slammed her palms together, and the vines pulled. The ghoul was torn apart like rotten cloth, pieces of it flung into the chasm below.
