The ghoul which was beginning to land heavy punches on Penelope who was barely conscious stopped and turned its neck three hundred and sixty degrees till it was staring at Harold with dark hollows dug into its head, representing his eyes. It was true what Trisha had guessed. The 'shadows' which they now knew as ghouls had been barely visible down in the cavern. Now they were although smoky, a lot lot easier to spot. It had to do with the full moon.

Her eyes went wide with shock: tiny skeletal remains slipped out. She froze, watching in horror as the bones instantly shattered, turning to a fine dust that vanished before her eyes. Ghouls rushed forward, sickles raised to cleave her. Suddenly, Horan surged between them. He cursed with every ounce of his being, delivering a bone-jarring kick to the face of each attacker. "I don't give a damn about bad deeds in times like these!" he spat. "Jennet, get up!" Horan nudged her leg, his voice sharp with urgency.

They were midway across the path, in front of a cemetery when suddenly graves started opening. "What is going on?" Isabella asked, clutching onto Chris tightly. Chris was suddenly sweating so furiously but Ariel was cool and her face was blank and devoid of any emotions. They stood there watching six tombs open and six scary-looking ghosts walked out. Isabella was already whitish in appearance knowing who they are. Chris's hairs were all up and his eyes green, his normal sight nature. "GREETINGS TO THE SPECIAL ONE." One of them muttered. "GREETINGS TO THE LITTLE GODDESS." Another muttered.

Marcus, the quiet guy from accounting leaned against the door, arms crossed, with a bitter smirk twisting his lips. “McAllen,” he said. “You’ve been looking real happy lately. His naughty finger intruded the treasure trove, and Gristel quivered and bit on his ear. "Ouch." He shouted, grabbing the ear, and murmured in sudden realization, "Fuck! I am also an elf?" Gristel covered her mouth and giggled, "Ah no, your highness! You are a Goblin." "Ah! Goblin!" He shrieked. Goblin, in the mythology of earth, is a hideous-looking, greedy, vicious humanoid creature. He checked his arms and muttered, "They are not green. Why? Whatever, it's just a dream."

He nodded slowly, then laid the tile down next to the others. I looked at it. My unease grew, because it looked like a bullfrog crossed with a man. Oddly enough, it looked like . . . The creature from the Black Lagoon. “The ‘Other’ is Chiao, the Water Demon. According to legend he capsized boats, devoured men, and ravished women. He was . . . different from the Sacred Four.” I cleared my suddenly dry and tight throat. “How?” Mr. Trung tipped his head. “The Four exact a price for attempting to reach the Gateway, but they are sacred, honorable, bearing your essence away to be judged accordingly. Chiao is an Abomination. It consumes your very essence, making you part of it for all eternity.”
