THE LYING GAME
She was a middle-aged woman who tended to my mansion and my father’s men, she supervised the maids and servants as they worked and was damn good at it too.
“Where’s father?.”
“In the study, Don Russo. He's been waiting.”
“Thanks, Agatha.”
I pushed open the door to my father’s study and met him engaged in a game of chess with a tall, lanky man who looked oddly familiar.
“Checkmate. No one escapes me, boy.” Father said and the lanky man’s low laughter echoed in the room as he accepted his victory with a nod.
Simultaneously, they looked up at me, my father’s energetic face brightening as he acknowledged me. “Here he comes.“
