Her eyes glowed faintly, not silver like Elara’s, but pale blue, ancient, and knowing.
“This is High Seer Maereth,” Kael explained. “She arrived from the northern ruins this morning.”
The woman studied Elara carefully. “The healer with dragon blood, I have waited many years to meet you.”
Elara frowned slightly. “You know me?”
“I know what you are,” Maereth replied. “And what you are not. Not yet.”
Verath stepped forward, protective. “Speak plainly.”
The seer inclined her head. “Your queen’s power is incomplete. She carries the blood of the First Bonded, those who once stood beside dragons as equals. But that blood sleeps.”
