But I catch the spear midair, letting it spin in my hand before aiming it right back at him. His eyes go wide when he realizes what I'm about to do. He starts to run, but not until I release the spear and hit him squarely in the back of the head. His head explodes, the remnants of his skull splattering on the snow like chips, covered in blood. His body falls and starts to twitch, and I pause, waiting for him to become a monster.

Just as the kidnapper pulled the trigger, Blair rushed over with a yell. Bang! A bullet pierced flesh, and blood splattered.
