Gate Light Novel Novels & Stories

Behind us, something stirred in the darkness. A breath. A rumble. We turned just as the shadows twisted into a figure, tall and robbed in black bone, its face hidden beneath a cracked silver mask. It didn’t speak. It simply raised one hand. And from the earth below us, the **gate** began to open.

Caelan’s words left Clara shaking where she stood, the broken ring lying between us with frost spreading over its metal. I rose with Caelan’s help, one hand still protecting my stomach. The child shifted faintly beneath my palm, and through the bond Caelan felt my fear before I could hide it. “We are safe,” I said. His gaze moved from me to the hall. “Who else?” The question was quiet, but everyone who had laughed at the gate seemed to hear judgment in it.

A compartment opened. Inside was a thin black book. Gabriel took it carefully. The cover carried no writing. He opened it. The first page contained a warning. WHEN THE SEVENTH GATE OPENS, THE KEY WILL CEASE TO BE A KEY. Aria stepped closer. Gabriel continued reading. THE CARRIER SHALL BECOME THE DOOR. Another page. THE DOOR SHALL STAND BETWEEN TWO WORLDS. Another. IF THE DOOR OPENS, ONE WORLD SHALL REMAIN.

“I’m done being afraid of secrets.” I pressed my palm against the lock. The silver metal burned brightly. The door opened. A cold wind hit us. Inside was a small room. Old. Dusty. There was a wooden table. A broken chair. And drawings covering the walls. Guardian symbols. The Gate. The three seals. And four circles. I stepped closer. The first circle had been crossed out. The second had a crescent. The third was empty. The fourth…Had my name. KIARA.

"You are trying to remain human." "I am human." Bey smiled a wolfish grin I found endearing. "You are much more." The lake rippled violently, and images exploded across its surface. I saw Caleb, covered in blood, with his princess, Lena, standing before thousands of wolves. The Gate opened wider than before, darkness pouring through it. The Gate—so ancient no one remembered what it truly was - was said to hold back everything that should never cross into this world. If it opened completely, there would be nothing to keep the shadows out.

Then something unexpected happened. The gate spoke. Not with words. With music. A single note. Soft. Beautiful. Ancient. The sound drifted through the silent streets. Across empty bridges. Between crystal towers. The city answered. Lanterns brightened throughout Lumora. Dozens. Hundreds. Lights awakening one by one. Not fully. Just enough. As though the city had opened one sleepy eye. The crew stood motionless. Watching. Listening. Waiting. Then golden letters appeared across the face of the gate.

Hayate pushed himself upright inside the circle of guards. His armour hung open at the side. Blood covered his hand. He looked toward Kiyomi. His lips moved. I could not hear the words. She could. Her knees nearly gave way. Then Hayate turned toward the guards. He drove his sword into the ground. Golden light erupted from beneath them. The eastern gate exploded. Stone, chains, and black armour vanished inside the fire. The force threw us through the western arch. Kiyomi hit the floor beside me. The light faded.

“It can’t be happening already.” Ayesha stared at him. “What can’t be happening?” Malrik slowly stepped backward. 🌑 “The Gate.” 😱 The room instantly became colder. The shadows around them began moving. As if they were alive. 👁️ Watching. Waiting. Hungry. 💀 ⸻ 🌙 The Hidden Gate Suddenly— The floor beneath the room cracked open. 💥 A giant symbol appeared. A circle made of silver light. ✨ Ancient runes surrounded it.

So she may as well do this alone. With her sword in its scabbard, and the shield she’d been wielding strapped to her back, Nya carefully opened the door that led to the hallway. She’d already oiled it a few days ago so that it opened without a sound. Checking both sides of the hallway, she saw nothing in the flickering torch light, nor did she hear the echoes of bootsteps from any of the adjoining hallways. Satisfied she was in the clear for now, Nya stepped out into the hallway and gently closed the door behind her.

Then they both headed for the exit of their cave to head to Alistair's chambers. ~~~~~~ Isabelle walked slowly up to the first floor of the house, then down the hall to the door of Selene's room and finally knocked lightly on the door. - Go away, I don't want to see anyone!- Selene shouted with her head pressed against the pillow, so it didn't sound as scary as she wanted it to. - It's me.- Isabelle said through the door, pressing the handle and glad the door was open, so she entered the room.
