Jax stepped back, eyes a little unfocused. He swiped at them like something had gotten in them and offered no explanation. “Happy now?” he muttered to the door. The Gate hummed. The script along the top flickered. > PAY THE PRICE OF ENTRY: ONE REGRET. Letters glitched, breaking apart and reforming into a new line: > PAYMENT RECEIVED. ACCESS GRANTED. A series of heavy internal **clunks** reverberated through the metal. It sounded like locks disengaging—big ones.

I asked as I looked around. Graves my Dad's Beta and Boris the Gamma were there along with Dolph, Nik, Theo and one of our trackers named Tom. "Tom just got back from following those girls today. He wants to tell us about it." Dolph replied and I furrowed my brow. "Why didn't he just link us?" I demanded and Tom sighed. "I can't. I've been trying for hours. I can't even shift right now" Tom answered and I looked at him in surprise.

"The third gate." Gabriel rushed toward the navigation screen. Aria followed. "What happened?" He checked the coordinates. "We're too late." "Too late for what?" "The Third Gate." Lorenzo stood. "Explain." Gabriel pointed at the screen. "We're supposed to arrive in New York in three hours." "And?" "The gate activated twenty minutes ago." Silence filled the aircraft. Aria stared at the screen. "Who activated it?" Gabriel's face was grim. "I don't know."

David the Second was trailing behind me, his lower lip slightly pushed out in a stubborn pout. "He tried to override the paddock gate sensors again, Jessica," I rumbled, my deep baritone shaking the quiet air of the room as I walked over to my wife’s chair, my massive hand coming down to rest on the soft curve of her neck. "I was only running a localized range test, Marcus!" David protested, slamming his small terminal onto the corner of the teak desk. "The Bluetooth receiver on the gate has a ten-meter blind spot. If a delivery vehicle stops in that zone, the security grid doesn't log the license plate for four seconds!"

Cordelia gently, moved closer to the big beautiful gate holding her small black purse in her hand as she walked. When she got to the gate, she showed the gateman the gold and black card that the driver had given her. On it was written boldly, “ACCESS”. He looked at her thoroughly through the holes in the gate and let her in without any questions asked. All he did, was point her to the direction that she was supposed to go, based on the card that she was holding.

The door asked. “Approved.” Theraphosa replied. “Access granted for Rain Sky.” Upon saying that, the glow on Rain’s hand turned green. Theraphosa nodded her head and looked at the other two. “Next.” Gon stepped forward next while Matthew was a bit hesitant.
