"The girl from the library isn't going to make it to Friday morning. The attorney is filing the supplementary statements at five. They found her fingerprints on the latch of the gatehouse, Kai. The old gatehouse by the lane. The one she walks past every night after her shift." The silence that followed was long and heavy, the only sound the distant, muffled clink of a shunting engine in the marshaling yards a mile away. Kai looked at the red silk lining of Kevin’s gloves, then up to the loose, smiling mouth of the boy whose watch was currently sitting behind the flue in the old smithy. "The gatehouse has been locked since the fever year," Kai said softly. "The iron is rusted into the keeper'

I stood at the edge of the ruins with Darion's hand in mine and watched each of those minutes pass and tried every calculation I had and found nothing that reached a different answer in the time available. At the eight minute mark the cold light from the gateway sharpened. At the nine minute mark a sound came through it. Distant and deep and enormous, the sound of something very large beginning to move. At ten minutes exactly, Kieran lowered his hands. The gateway was open. Fully, completely, permanently open. The first of them came through.

The entrance was a towering archway of black stone etched with golden runes, half-buried beneath tangled vines and glowing moss. And at its center, a door. It wasn’t made of stone or wood, but of pure energy—shifting between light and shadow, bleeding into the air like liquid fire. The Gate. My marks pulsed violently, a heartbeat syncing with the energy ahead. The servants halted at the clearing’s edge, bowing low, as if in reverence. Aaron stopped beside me, chest heaving. “It’s awake.” Edward’s grip tightened on his sword. “Then we shut it down before it opens any further.”

Hence, he went up to Drakthorn Ridge that night. The villa was brightly lit, and as he approached the front gate, he noticed it wide open as if someone was expecting him. He called over the guards watching Ethan and asked, “Does he always leave the gates open at night?” “No,” the guard replied. “Only tonight.” Stephen frowned. Did Ethan know he was coming? For some reason, he felt strangely nervous. After taking a deep breath, he mustered the courage to walk inside. As soon as he entered the living room, he saw Ethan sitting on the couch reading a book. This time, however, it was a different book from the one he had seen before.

The doors were labelled with planets of the solar system except Earth; they were not labelled for figurative purpose because each door actually leads to the planets mentioned; those doors were known as “Dimensional Gates” Eric opened a brown door in front of him which had no tag, the door led to a large library, he climbed up three steps and was standing in the large room full of book shelves; one could spend a life time dedicated to reading and still not finish the books in this library. “Am I dismissed, Ma’am?” He was acting like a complete stranger. “Yes. Yes, that will be all.” With those words he turned around and left her alone. She closed the double doors to her suite with the feeling that she had lost her only friend and possibly the love of her life... *Day of the Annual King Business Party*

the knight shook his head. “Think, man… Think, man… Try to remember…” “Yes, I remember now… I saw it an old book I found in my father’s library.” “What did the book say?” “That they are some kind of gates… portals for faster travel around places.” “Well, how do activate them?” “ The book doesn`t say.” “Great… It helped as a lot!” “I think it has something to do the symbols.” “We will see in the morning.” After a good night’s sleep, they take a closer look at stone.

“The object of the game, Master Kevin, is to reach enlightenment, the Gateway to Understanding. That is what a player hopes to win.” Without taking his eyes off us, he laid down another tile offering two plain, etched-in-black characters . . . “This means ‘gateway.’ It is what Sốphận players seek, the Gateway to Understanding.” Kevin folded his arms, looking interested. “Understanding? Of what?” Mr. Trung smiled but it wasn’t his same, kindly-old man expression. This smile seemed enigmatic . . . maybe even a little threatening. “Of everything, Master Kevin. Understanding of the self, of the surrounding world. Of the Ancients, even the universe. But the Gateway is guarded by the Four Sacred B

said the advisor. "My parents did. How did you know?" "This book was written by a man 35 years ago. He spoke of things that made him sound quite mad but he had learned of these gateways as he called them. I have read this book, I am too afraid of what it would do if I was to try any of the methods he speaks of." "May I?" I looked through the book. It seems it was written by a man from the 1960's based on the technology he was trying to describe.
