“What do you want, Ghost?”
“Some fucking honesty!” he shouts, his voice echoing off the walls. I flinch slightly, frozen under his piercing gaze. “You’re honestly going to marry a woman, which means this—us—will always be hidden. A fucking secret.”
I swallow hard, my throat dry. “What you want, Ghost, I can’t give you,” I say quietly, my voice barely above a whisper.
Ghost’s face twists in frustration. “I want some honesty!” he repeats, his voice raw. “What I want is for you to refuse to get married—or at least fucking delay it!”
