Selena’s POV The howl was still echoing across the ruins when everything suddenly went dead quiet. Not cute, quiet. Not friendly, quiet. Nope. Creepy, chest-tightening, “something is literally breathing down my neck” quiet. The kind of quiet that made me want to scream “HELLO???” just to feel less alone. The wind cut off like somebody pressed a pause button. The mark on my wrist stopped glowing like it ran out of battery. Even the stones on the ground looked like they were holding their breath.

>>** The staccato burst of Winters’s MP7 was deafening in the confined space. Leo didn’t look back. He hit the emergency exit panic bar. The hatch blew open with a hiss of pneumatics, revealing a dark, narrow service stairwell leading down. He plunged into the darkness, Silas held tight against him, Harlan on his heels, the sounds of the final confrontation between the Ghost and the Phoenix swallowed by the closing door. They were out. Silas was free. But Dominic’s final scream echoed in the sudden, ringing silence of the stairwell: *"I am PHOENIX!"*

The only ghost. The only one who remembered. --- A sound. Soft. Behind me. I stilled instantly. Every muscle locking into place. Not fear. Never fear. Awareness. I turned slowly. Carefully. But there was nothing. Just shadows. Trees. Silence. Too much silence. My eyes narrowed slightly. “Show yourself,” I said quietly. No response. But I felt it. That shift. That presence. Not close. Not far. Watching. Waiting. A chill slid down my spine—not from fear.

Michelle burst out in anger, “Why do you keep hiding him?” Lauren wasn’t in the least frightened. Now she knew both mother and daughter was up to no good but she wasn’t definitely going to fall for their trick, “Are you regretting not marrying him now? Sorry, but it’s too late.” She was expecting a next rundown from Michelle but it didn’t come. Grace was unusually silent too. She turned to the duo but their focus was no longer on her. Their focus was on the window and they were standing with open mouths like people who had just seen a ghost. Quickly, Lauren turned but froze immediately.

He lowered his head and had his lips on her neck, giving it a light kiss. Jennet shivered badly after hearing his sexy husky voice. The female ghost was a male ghost? But, she could not pry her eyes away as she stared at the reflection in the glass; engraving his beautiful appearance in her mind. "Hu... Hue..." her lips trembled as she muttered the name. Her heart pounded madly. She tried to move but was powerless. "Yes..." the blond spoke softly in her ear and kissed her neck lightly while inhaling her scent. Jennet could not contain the fear anymore and her eyes rolled upward. She collapsed to the floor; losing consciousness.

Sitting down comfortably on my bed was the moon lady. I became light-headed and with a scream, landed on the floor with a loud thud, feeling so much pain coursing through me. "What do you want?" I whimpered. "I'm sorry for what just happened. Please, Ghostwriter, I need your help." "What!" My heartbeat hastened. "Please calm down. I know you must have questions about what killed me and how I knew I was gonna die." "Please leave me alone," I retorted, pulling the sheet to cover myself.

And he's the one stuck in that boring office so I guess we both struggle every day. Classroom three-two, three-three, ah there it is, classroom three-four... Silence. I freeze as I entered the room. A ghost? A corpse? Shaking the thoughts from my head I move to my desk at the front of the room and place my things down neatly before moving to the lifeless body at the back. As I moved closer, I could hear the music coming from their headphones... All time low. Hmm, they're got good taste in music. A female student?

The whispers grew louder, more insistent. " I... have come... for you…" I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. Monica had always taught me to trust my instincts, and right now, my instincts were telling me to listen. As I gazed around the field, I noticed some movement far in the distance, coming from the canopy of trees just at the edge of the forest. It was a fox as white as snow, almost blending into the sunlight filtering through the trees. Curiosity overwhelmed me, so I stalked closer cautiously. The fox stood still as I approached, its bright eyes watching me intently, as if it was waiting for me. There was something almost magical about it, something that drew me in.

I call ghost, he got more than one skill, and opening closed-door virtual and real ones are one of his many skills. He uses his key locks tools and messes with the door for a bit until it opens. Finally, I walk down with ghost behind me, I find a small girl laying naked on the floor. She's thin, too thin, her blond hair match mine only hers is dirty and matted on her head. Her blue eyes are hardly open, I can see bruises all over her fragile body. Taking off my shirt I cover her quickly and pick her up leaving this hell behind. "You're safe now baby sister" I whisper in her ears she closes her eyes letting darkness take her.

He flipped the light bar off, plunging us back into the grey dimness of the storm. "You're getting good at that," he said, his breathing finally beginning to level out. "At what?" "At the 'Dirty' work," Enzo said. I looked down at the Red Ledger. My knuckles were white where I gripped the leather. I wasn't the "Boring" girl who worked for a tech startup anymore. I was the woman who had just blinded a man so her husband could ram a truck. "It says here... 'The Quiet,'" I read, squinting at the page as a neon sign from a passing liquor store illuminated the text. "What is 'The Quiet'?"
