Selena moved from her position against the wall, her legs stiff from standing so long in one place. She knelt down, reaching for the small plastic ghost that had skidded beneath a chair. Her fingers closed around it, and she examined it briefly. The ghost was white with hollow eyes and a gaping mouth—a child's toy, perhaps, but in this context, it seemed to mock them all. She almost smirked. It screamed Victor in every way—his signature, his message. The Ghost had returned. But she quickly schooled her features back to neutrality before rising and placing the toy in Xavier's outstretched, bloodied hand.

He was viscous. Blood sucking like my matexhad referred to him as well. "Reign, you can go to him now." Axel told Reign. They all stood abay to wade off any impending danger including danger that could be Ghost. Seeing the blood around they had to be sure that Ghost was in check before approaching me even if I seemed to be losing blood. I laid still and helpless in surrender but when Reign touched me Ghost reacted. He grabbed her and rolled us over that she shrieked and screamed in fear.

I reached out and pressed the radio button on the steering wheel. My voice was cold, cutting through the static. "Mason Vale, do you see a ghost in your mirror?" I said coldly into the radio. Those words pierced straight through Mason's last line of composure. His car hesitated for an obvious instant on the straight. Now. I smashed the throttle down. The car tore through the air and pulled alongside him. Ahead was a chain of fast S-curves. Seeing that I was about to pass, a vicious look flashed through Mason's eyes.

But your mother's about to die—I know you'll show up. Her words jolted me back to reality. I pressed a hand to my chest, where my heart ached with a dull, numbing pain. How I wished I could tell her myself. That I've been here all along. It's just that... I've been dead for four years.

The cover showed a silver tree and a red door, titled: THE GHOSTS OF THE INK. The woman flipped to the last page, glanced at the words, then at Maya. "You’re not supposed to be here," she said, voice shaking with both fear and thrill. "The book ends with you dying in the white space. I just finished reading it ten minutes ago." Maya looked at the book. The ink on the page was shifting—new words, fresh and alive, wrote themselves as she watched. The woman glanced at the sky. "Oh no," she whispered. "The Readers—they didn’t vanish. They followed you into the real world."

They felt velvety and dewy as they pressed against my warm palm. We both froze for a moment. I quickly retracted my hand, while Cecily's eyes flitted about evasively. The tips of her ears turned pink. I was still flustered when Professor Kelley's voice rang out. "Hurry up and come inside."

He stretched his hand for a handshake, and I took it. He has a firm grip, but his hands are cold, so fucking cold, just like Echo’s touch. “I am sorry to ask but are you a…” “Ghost? Absolutely.” He answered before I could even complete my questions, that explains why they can both see each other but does this mean that I can see all ghosts because I initially thought that I could only see Echo. “We met yesterday when she was sad and alone and we have been friends since then.” I feel terrible that I put her in that position, but I am glad she’s okay and she’s back. Adrian though, he is different. He is actually cooking, touching and holding things, how is that even possible.

Olivia couldn’t see anything because of the light, only the sound of the deity remained in her ears. “Young recruit will have to dedicate to the galaxy.
