Something colorful peeked from behind the knocked-over side table. "Are those… flowers?" I asked faintly. Gabriel stood, frowning as he followed my line of sight. "Oh. Yeah." He bent to pick them up. The bouquet was gorgeous—fresh wildflowers wrapped in soft ivory paper, a little crushed from the scuffle. "I wanted to give you these," he said sheepishly. "But, uh… everything escalated before I could." Emotion swelled in my throat. "They’re beautiful." His expression warmed. "Not as beautiful as the woman they’re meant for."

"They're balloon flowers," she said. "These look fresh. They aren't native around here, but they can be invasive. It wouldn't really surprise me if there were some growing nearby." "What do they mean, darling?" I asked softly. She glanced at me and smiled apologetically. "It depends. They mean different things to different cultures, but usually when given as a gift they're a sign of friendship, love, and honesty."

After much coaxing, Becca finally acknowledged Blossom's presence. "See, she's seen you. You can go now." I said defensively. Blossom shook her head, "Not so fast, I've got a present for her.
