Suddenly, Ginger reaches for her glass, but her elbow knocks against the edge of her plate, sending a splash of sauce onto Caspian’s crisp white shirt.
“Oh, my God!” she gasps, grabbing a napkin. “I’m so sorry.” She panics as she dabs at his shirt. “I wasn’t looking. I—”
Caspian catches her wrist, stopping her frantic movements. “Ginger,” he says smoothly, turning her hand over. Then, to my utter disgust, he presses a kiss to her palm, smiling at her. “It’s nothing.”
My inside tightens, burning like a slow, insidious fire. I grip the edge of the table, forcing myself to stay seated when all I want to do is throw my plate across the room.
