The Bargain
He said, holding her against his chest, in his lap.
She winced. She did not like it when he talked about her weight.
“Are you eating well?”
“Well, your chef makes sure I do.” She said,
“Good.”
“Till I get obese.”
“You will have to gain weight first to do that.” He said, “When you first got here, you were much different.”
“Till I experienced the great hospitality of Yin.” She said in irritated sarcasm, looking up from his chest.
“Does it upset you that I talk about your weight?” he asked, looking at her in surprise. “I thought women only cared about their weight gain.”
