She glanced to the side; Gladia followed Lia’s gaze with a frown. “What is it this time?” Gladia jeered. Light and airy footsteps echoed in the distance, as if whoever owned those feet were walking on air, and then golden light began to shine from Gladia’s chest. It was the pendant — the gold sparkling against Gladia’s white shirt. “What—what is this?!” Gladia’s hiss rose to a shriek, clawing at the pendant as though it had turned molten, burning her. Her fingers tore at the chain, but it refused to snap. The glow only intensified, crawling across her skin like fireflies turning into flames.

"Then get some rest. Tomorrow I'll introduce you to Tyler. He's still at tutorials right now, so he won't be back until tonight." The door quietly closed behind her. I sat on the edge of the bed, hugging the pillow tightly against my chest before burying my face into it. It wasn't out of sorrow, but rather the overwhelming realization that someone was finally treating me with genuine kindness. On my third day in Kingsley City, Ruby suddenly spammed my phone with messages. "STELLA! GO ONLINE RIGHT NOW! "People are absolutely TEARING Naomi apart online! "I CAN'T STOP LAUGHING! It led into the guild's open plan office, which was separated from the visitor area by a long, scratched counter. There were half a dozen doors on the left. I wanted to be enraged but I didn't understand how to feel about a book laughing at me. After what seemed like forever, the book stopped and laid back on the table. "'What is the secret word?"' the book said, with traces of laughter in its voice. I didn't have time for the book's games. I had less than 30 hours to train and prepare myself for the challenge. The book wasn't helping matters. I said the next thing that came to my mind. "Alizon. The gem of Alizon." The book kept quiet then flipped its pages open. It stopped at one and words began to appear on them. Once that was done, a mist of glow came out from the book.

I only knew I woke up too late because the glaring sunlight was already piercing through the thin sheets of the curtains. “Good morning, dear.” Zed’s voice rang in my head, so I turned to glance at him. He was already sitting in an upright position, his back on the bedboard. A motivational book by Robert Kiyosaki was in his hand. “Good morning,” I replied, turning to my other side with eyes closed. The part of the bed on his side then sank, and I knew he was lying beside me. As soon as the movement steadied, I felt his mouth on my nape, running down my shoulders.

“Yes, it was a monster who was inside my territory did that to me. A Giblinn, a unique grade monster was rampaging in the west part of the island managed to pierce me with its tail when I was trying to stop it.” [ Giblinn – a monster that is like a large ape but possessing characteristics of having a tail with sharp long needles on its tip and has hard shell armor on his shoulders to his back.] “Well, if it was a unique grade then I understand how it managed to damage you with its attack. So, where is this Giblinn then?” “I ended up killing it after it hit me with its needle.” “Wow, you killed a unique grade monster that easily, you’re not an Ancient for nothing.”

Magic tightening like a net. He began to speak, chanting in an old tongue. But before the incantation could finish, the book burned. Flame shot up from the name — not wild, but deliberate. Purposeful. It didn’t destroy the page. It sealed it. The gold letters glowed red-hot before cooling into black glass. The Archivist stepped back, eyes wide. “The book has accepted her.” The woman Councilor snarled. “Then we’ll erase the page.” I stepped forward.

My eyes flicked up from the book in front of me to glare at the small window next to me, where there were two birds perched on a branch outside looking as if they were ready to take flight at any moment. The moon was shining brightly overhead, but the sky appeared cloudless. And not just that - when I looked down at the book I could see it glowing dimly with some kind of weird glow. There was no light reflecting off of it whatsoever. The glow looked almost magical, and my breath hitched in my throat. It felt almost like magic - maybe I was seeing things but what was worse my wolf growling and snarling inside of me , telling me that something was very, very wrong.

It wasn't until she noticed the strange book tucked away in the corner that she was able to distract herself from her thoughts. "I almost missed one," she whispered. As she walked over to it, she noticed that its cover was worn, and it seemed to emit a faint glow that caught her attention. Maybe it's how the moon perfectly acted as its own spotlight that made it seem so glowy, but it's not just that. She somehow felt a little hint of amusement as she stared at it. As she approached the book, she saw the shinny title written on it, Lunaria, and she couldn't help but be intrigued. The moonlight shining down on the pages illuminated the words in a way that made them seem to come alive.
