I find a quiet place to sit, which happens to be the kitchen and since I normally don't trust any of the drinks offered in parties like this, I refrain from taking in anything. I pull out my phone and randomly start to text my dear bestie Martin, who immediately replies to me. M: You good? G: Yh, just bored! M: Have you even tried having any fun or did you already condemn the possibility? G: ... M: ? G: I'm just bored. M: *sighs* You'll be fine, just don't drink anything that has alcohol.

Ten minutes goes by. I know he’s at work, so maybe he’s in the middle of an appointment or something? While I wait, I ring room service and ask for a latte to be sent up with a piece of chocolate cheesecake. Then I watch half an hour of a ridiculous game show on the TV.Finally, I come to the conclusion that he’s not messaging back anytime soon. Ghosted on my first attempt. “Don’t let it close again…Vincent, please!” He lunged forward, slashing through the chains. Sparks flew and shadows shrieked. Each chain he broke writhed back into smoke. The journal fell to the ground, its pages flapping open. The words glowed bright red, like flames: “She is mine.” Vincent roared as he tore the pages away, but every page he ripped turned into smoke and returned to the book. The ghost's voice echoed around him. “You can’t destroy what rewrites itself, fox. This book is her life. Every scream, every scar, every betrayal is written in ink that never fades. If you burn it…you burn her name.”

Something waiting. --- Determined not to be paralyzed by fear, I returned to the antique bookstore — to the stories, the secrets, the fragments of forgotten women. The elderly owner greeted me with a knowing smile. “You’re searching for answers,” he said quietly. I nodded. He handed me a leather-bound tome, its cover worn but strong — *Reflections of the Forgotten*. “Read carefully,” he advised. “Sometimes the past speaks through shadows.” --- I spent the night poring over its pages. The book told of women trapped in illusions, caught between worlds — ghosts of themselves, struggling to reclaim their true identities.

He had signed it to make the book owner a lucky person. He squeezed it among the other books in his library, and moved a few steps back to get a good view of it.
