Right before boarding my flight, one last message came in. "Wife, I’ll save you even if it kills me!"

But before he managed to say anything, the police chief, Samson Bayer, called her over. Harriet found it strange. "Chief, what's going on?" Samson patted her shoulder and led her to the morgue. "My condolences, Harriet," he said solemnly. Harriet was taken aback. She tried to brush aside the unease growing in her heart. "Chief, what are you talking about? My family is fine. What's there to grieve about?" Samson sighed and said, "After the bomb exploded yesterday, Aaron didn't make it out. He died at the scene. His body is inside."

His eyes looked so empty and hurt as he came closer to where I was standing. “Please don’t tell me” I shook my head looking at Marcelo. “Diego didn’t make it,” He said as I gasped shaking my head as I covered my mouth looking at Marcelo hoping he would tell me what happened “How? He was fine when Kaleb and Kasper died,” I said to him, tears rolling down my face

" I said with tears circulating in my eyes. I told myself to be tough and calm, but it really hurt whenever I mentioned Uma and Damian's names. Diego poured himself a glass of bear and said, "Miss, we're insignificant people. Our lives aren't supposed to mean anything. Our death isn't supposed to be used for a cause. I understand you feel guilty about their death, but that's just what it is in our world." "You don't trust me," I said. "No, rich lady from Skagen City. It is you who don't trust me." Diego took a sip of the beer and said. "If you trusted me, you would have told me your name a moment ago. And I don't work with people who don't trust me."

“I actually could. Where are you now?” “The airport.” I respond immediately. “But I can meet you wherever.” “Great.” Diego says. “There’s a small cafe near there that we can meet.” As he speaks, I can hear him moving and then stretching. “I’ll meet you there in fifteen.” He continues. “See you then.” I don’t get the chance to say anything more before he hangs up. Sighing, I pull my phone away from my ear and then head back to where Geo and Gil stand watching me.

"Are you guys not done even until now?" Diego shouted, and I looked at him, annoyed. "Don't give me that look. This sound is killing me!" He shouted again, and I turned off the blaring music in the headphones. Immediately, his expression softened, and he closed his eyes. "Thank god! I thought you guys were planning to torture me like this," he said dramatically while I removed the headphones from his head. "So, what's it about?" he asked me, and I rolled my eyes and went to bed.

I’m but a pawn in the game of whose dick is bigger and deadlier. Diego thinks he’s God and no one’s ever told him differently. Hell, even those around him must believe it. Diego kills on a whim and if one of his men stands in the way, he brutally takes them out. No one fucks with Diego Fernandez or anything that belongs to him. I almost feel sorry for my captor. Almost.
