"PSST! JERK, STILL AWAKE?" That was the message I received from Dawn. I sat down and checked the time. It was two in the morning and everyone was in bed. Did something happen? After tucking her in, the director decided to end the shooting and continue tomorrow. We were supposed to have a love scene earlier but Dawn passed out. We will be extending our stay because of that. Direk wanted a love scene under the moonlight with a wonderful background which is the sea - only to be ruined by my brother.

“It’s a good thing Ethan had no family left. No siblings, no parents coming to pry around here. But neighbors will talk. Well-wishers will want to see your face. They expect a broken woman, not someone celebrating her freedom like it’s her birthday.” Dawn crossed her arms, her chin lifting defiantly. I could see it all over her face. She wasn’t grieving. She wasn’t scared. She was annoyed that I was ruining her moment. I moved closer, lowering my voice. “After the burial, we leave town for a while. Let this die down.” “Leave town?” She scoffed. “Why on earth would I leave? My life is here. Damien is here. And after everything that’s happened, I’m not giving up on that.”

She managed to say, "Aurora, I'm sorry if you're able to hear me. Above all, Logan, if you can hear me once more, please forgive me.” ------------ Dawn spent most of her time in her room for the remainder of the week. Dawn deliberately avoided people so that no one would see or hear her. However, she concealed it from others, although it grew more difficult. Everyone was buzzing with excitement about the upcoming ceremony, but Dawn stayed quiet at dinner. Her peculiar actions caught the attention of Malachi and some others. Dawn grew more depressed in the absence of Aurora's words. She was lost in her own world, and her mother's voice broke through her thoughts, bringing her back to reality.

I fade away and keep grinning. “I’m just impressed I didn’t piss all over myself.” I crack up again. “I didn’t even splash my shoes either.” Dawn shakes her head. “I’m proud of myself.” “I’m proud of you too.” Dawn shakes her head and smirks as we settle into silence. We cross the Florida border into Georgia as the sun flees west. Everything looks the same except for one thing: the sexual tension between Dawn and me. Damn.

The front of the car was also wrecked, but it wasn't too serious as to cause a fire or stop the car from moving. Gracie's eyes lingered on the space Dawn had occupied, which was vacant, and the cross necklace that she'd worn was the only thing left of hers on the seat. They were also just parked beside the road, in the middle of nowhere. Gracie panicked, then shook Gabriel harshly. The shove jolted him awake, albeit disoriented. "Wake up! Dawn's gone. Dawn is missing" Gracie yelled, her voice making him wince and come awake. "Dawn is gone, Gabriel!" the panic in her voice made Gabriel fully awake and he glanced around the car to check for himself that Dawn was truly gone.
