For a moment, I savored the quiet escape from the whirlwind outside. "Hmm," I began, swirling the glass in my hands. "Let's see... I belt out questionable tunes in the shower, prefer quiet nights with a book to these," I gestured around, "and this Friday night attire is definitely out of character." "Books?" His tone was genuinely curious, not the feigned interest I’d come to expect from most. "Any favorites?" "Jane Eyre," I replied without hesitation. "There’s something timeless about a woman's quest for love and autonomy."

Some part of me wanted that. Not because I wanted the power. Not because I wanted to collect people like trophies. Because the thought of being wanted like that; to be chosen like that, made something in my chest go warm and tight. All because I had read... things. Books. Ones that I pretended they were "just entertainment." Stories that had made me squirm under blankets and bite my lip and tell myself I was being ridiculous. But the ones that had gotten me the most... the ones that lit my skin up and made my pulse race, were the ones where the woman wasn't lonely in love.

I declared. "I decided to help you because when I was in your position, no one was there to help me!" She gazed at me. "Similar to you, I was once targeted by similar predators! The men!" She pursed her lips. I settled back as she began. "Have you ever thought why some books state that God values men more than women, while in other places it is said that he despises women? Have you ever wondered why? To make women realize how people take advantage of the privileges granted to them, to demonstrate how they exploit those who are less fortunate, and how they lick the feet of those in power.

I need great sets of eyes to evaluate it" "I'm sure we will have enough time to" i replied, denying his offer. I so much wanted to see it now, but i don't trust both of us alone in his mansion. If he wasn't dissapointed, he didn't let it show. "What sort of books do you read" He inquired I smiled sheepishly. “I like women’s fiction and books about gardening and gourmet cooking.” It's been so long i did, i haven't found the time. I hope i find the time to do so again.

I’m almost afraid to touch anything in this room.” “I know you’ll be careful with my things.” She nodded and pulled the book off the shelf. “I didn’t know you liked Jane Austen.” “Why not?” She shrugged. “She’s a woman author.” “I’m broad minded enough to think women have a lot to offer society. I enjoy her work.” “This is one of my favorite books. Sense and Sensibility. The story of two sisters who represent two opposing forces: logic and emotion.” He leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms. He seemed to be considering her analysis of the book. “I didn’t think anyone else in Virginia understood that.”

"You’re really sure of yourself, huh?" "It might seem that there are many types of women: independent, wild, innocent, or sexy. But in reality, there are only two types: good and bad women. Good women are hard to pursue. They want money, people, and a fulfilled life. Bad women just need money and satisfaction!" Baxton explained. Sophia could not help but laugh. "Your analysis is very thorough." Baxton was a little embarrassed. "It’s my job, after all. You need to tailor your approach to every situation."

Emma said, walking deep into the living room. "Thanks." She walked to a set of shelves on the far side of the room, running her fingers over the spines of his books. A lot of them were classics, novels by Dickens, Voltaire, Dumas, Melville, and Hemingway. She smiled when her fingers ran over the spine of not one, but three copies of Mitchell's Gone with the Wind. There were modern novels, too, including Stephen King and Sidney Sheldon, but they didn't look as well read as some of the others.

“ It’s nothing. Just a library book I checked out. By accident. Just a silly mistake.“ Now that was the understatement of the century. “A silly mistake, my behind,” Edith cackled. “The Kama Sutra. The Joy of Sex. Dating for Dummies. The Multi-Orgasmic Couple. The Girlfriend's Guide to Great Sex.” Edith pointed to each of the books as she listed off the titles. Picking up the books, Mattie said, “This is my business.
