He greedily stared at her face. His fingers caressed her face. Mable popped her eyes open and slapped away his hand. Blair was not angry. Instead, he looked at her tenderly. “You’re awake.” Mable pulled the blanket away from her and stood up. “Blair—” Maybe she had been sitting for too long because she felt dizzy from standing up suddenly. Mable fell backward. “Watch out!” Startled, Blair caught Mable from falling.

Jasper could only make a guess. “Are you guys in trouble?” Mabel whispered. “Don’t worry, Madam. Everything is fine. We’re just acting along in a play,” Summer comforted her, telling her not to worry. “During this time, take good care of yourself, alright?” Mabel nodded. After all, Mabel was once the target of those who wanted to kidnap and hurt her, but they did not succeed. “Don’t worry, they won’t be able to defeat me." Mabel looked proud.

I gripped her shoulder, my other hand now cupping her chin, forcing her to meet my gaze. I wasn’t going to let it go. Not when she looked like this. Not when I could feel the pull of my wolf fighting to break free. I needed answers. “Tell me,” I pressed again, my voice harder. The rage in me was growing, but so was the overwhelming need to protect her. Mabel’s lips trembled. She opened her mouth, but no words came out. I softened, if only just a little. I didn’t want to scare her. She shook her head, tears welling up in her eyes. “I fell.”

It was a physical structure. "We are approaching the Abyssal Plain," I said, my heart rate spiking. The black veins in my arms burned as I pushed my deep sight further down into the crushing dark. "Brace for deceleration!" I twisted the alignment of my hands on the console, slightly shifting the polarity of the bottom three core splinters. The gravity bubble warped, acting as a massive kinetic parachute against the dense water below us. The Bell shuddered violently. We were thrown forward against our heavy leather harnesses as the sphere rapidly slowed from terminal velocity to a steady, creeping descent.

Earth disappeared. Not slow. Not with a crack or warning. Just like that. Mara felt heaviness for a moment. Then she fell. Next to her Jonas. Eva. Lyra. Stone walls ran past them. Silver light lines stretched through the darkness. The shaft was impossible. Much deeper than under an island should have space. Mara screamed. The wind ripped off her voice. Yet, the rappel line fastened securely around his waist held fast as Gabriel pulled with all his might from above. Mavric burst back to the surface, gasping for air, clutching the silver case to his chest as though it were his very own heart. Gabriel hauled him into the swaying helicopter, rain and seawater dripping from both men. “You’re insane! You are absolutely out of your mind, Mavric!” Gabriel yelled, tears of relief mixing with the rain on his face.

I take a sigh and relax for a moment, but Gabriel has other ideas. ''Ready for some action?'' He shouts. Before I know it Dagahra drops to the ground like a rocket. ''IIIIIIEEEEE,'' I scream and clench myself to Gabriel as hard as I can. It feels like my stomach is about to leave my body. I start to see the ground and just before I think we will die Dagahra gets horizontal and slows down. I give Gabriel a clap on his shoulder, ''You could have warned me.'' He laughs, ''Where is the fun in that. But look.'' He points at the ground. We are at a big waterfall surrounded by fields of flowers.

“—here and wait for the hole to process it.” They waited for no more than a second before the walls fell like a curtain, a swishing sound echoing around them. Blame stopped breathing when the ground they were supposed to be standing on disappeared and off they went in a never-ending fall. It took Blame’s and Reigna’s voices to crack for them to hit the ground. They catch their breath, spluttered, looked up at the now flat surface of the ceiling, and patted the ground in case it opened again. “Is it—is it always like that?” started Blame the moment she got a hold of herself.

Georgia was by her side, stroking her hair. The activity seemed to move further back where I couldn’t see as well, but finding strength from somewhere I teleported to the top of the dome, desperate to take in what was happening. I watched as Godfrey shot nearly to me at the top and winked. Then with his crazy speed, he rammed his body into the ground, shaking the earth below. I raised my head to look off into the distance toward the human town, just as the solid base underneath me gave out. Before I knew it I was free falling in thin air, powerless to stop it as my energy was wiped. I hit something with a thud, only … it didn’t hurt.

Before they had time to react, the ground moaned like a waking giant. “Gabriel you have to move! Hurry!” As Aurora said the words, the ground cracked open and Gabriel’s feet slipped in the loose rubble. “You have to jump away from the cliff face,” she screamed. “Gabriel leap toward me. You can still make it.” He crouched and sprang up, leaping as far as he could toward the other side. He made it across the growing divide, but landed hard, his fingers clawing in the loose rock on the other side. His eyes met Aurora’s and for a moment they simply stared at each other. Her lips whispered his name and then he fell.
