Eerie shadows were casted and funny enough, these shadows seemed to dance with evil malice. “Hey hey Mabel, what’s the matter?” I asked with a steady voice, even though my heart was racing and beating rapidly. I moved closer to her and placed my hands on her cheek, they seemed very hot and soft, wet with tears and sweat. Mabel looked deep into my eyes, her eyes were extremely wide with terror. I had never seen anyone this terrified in a long time. “Hey, talk to me, what’s wrong?” I asked, trying to get her to stop panting and talk to me.

We don't have to be trapped by the flood at all. Alex's gaze met mine straight on. After a while, he murmured softly, almost off-handedly, "Oh? Am I talking nonsense?" Expecting to lurch upward, he felt ghost hands grab him around his legs and back, holding him in place as the podium moved. Mike discovered quickly that rubbing his hand upward on the sphere caused it to fly, while left and right moved it along the long rows of books. He quickly landed his podium next to Tink's, stepping out onto the marble floor.

I can smell it stronger now, just past a cluster of boulders. I climb over the rocks, using my hands to pull myself up. The stone is rough under my palms, and I'm focused on not slipping when I hear it. A soft crack. I freeze. Then the rock beneath my left hand shifts. Not naturally. Like it was loosened on purpose. I jerk my hand back just as the stone breaks free and tumbles down, crashing into the ones below. The whole section starts to collapse. I scramble backward, my heart pounding. If I'd put my full weight on that rock, I would've fallen. Could've broken bones. Could've been trapped under rubble.

She’s going to be the death of me. When I lift my head, I notice Mabel staring at us. Her eyes are glued to our linked hands, brows raised in confusion. I can almost see the gears turning in her head as she tries to piece it together. She knows exactly what this means, but she’s not ready to accept it. She just keeps staring, like she’s hoping it’ll change if she blinks enough times. Mike, sensing her hesitation, turns to see what’s caught her attention. His eyes land on our intertwined hands, and his smile falters.
