"I call it the Goddess tree. The temple is just through there." He points at a small opening under the bush. "It's a bit of a squeeze, I'm afraid."

Drax reached out and placed his hand over Ashren’s. "But the First Kings did not leave us a graveyard," Drax continued, tears shining openly in his eyes. "They left us a garden. And they left us the Alpha to keep it warm." Ashren opened the wooden box. Resting on a bed of crushed velvet was a single, massive seed. It was the size of my fist, dark and polished, thrumming with the ancient, dormant life of the old world. POV: DARIUS The first light of morning creeps slowly through the trees while the forest still smells like smoke and broken magic. I stand at the edge of the clearing and stare at the well dug ground in front of me.. No one speaks. The entire pack stands quietly beneath the branches of the Moon Tree. It is the oldest tree in our territory. Huge. Ancient. Its trunk is so wide it would take five wolves just to circle it and the branches stretch out over the clearing like giant arms. Pale white bark glows faintly under the early morning light and the leaves whisper softly every time the wind moves through them.

But I just shrug it off. “Daddy, what’s that huge tree?” Andre voice draws Carlton’s Attention from me. All eyes trails where he’s pointing at and there’s gigantic tree at a far end of the forest. Even as we are standing up on a wooden bridge it’s still so tall and has its branch sprouting out everywhere. The tree is so magnificent and would really get anyone bedazzled. The oak tree. “That’s the oak tree.” Carlton says and someone squeals beside Andre. Griffin. Then with his eyes widen in amazement he exclaims, “The royal tree of the forest!”

The branches arched downward in the perfect shape of an umbrella, hauntingly reminiscent of the Mother Tree.

It was remarkable, and spoke to the Elves’ talents with magic. Ahead, at the center of the large circular space, the trunk of the crowning tree grew sturdy and straight, its bark a smooth yellow-gold in color. No branches sprouted on its length all the way to the ceiling far above, where again they could see the grasses winding around it. Glowing crystals scattered across the high ceiling shone like stars, and Keyla didn’t even want to speculate as to how they had been mounted, particularly at so daunting a height.
