Gregory was the Crypt Keeper and he had been stealing souls for decades. Disguising himself as a disabled, high school student gave him a chance to stay close to many young, vulnerable people. He had tricked them, along with thousands of other people. One of his victims was Larry, his close friend. The three of them were in an awe.

That Gregory would make his way through to claim me just as he had sworn to my father. Before I was married to my husband, Gregory had wanted me for himself which I had vehemently refused because firstly he was a vampire and secondly I never felt any pull towards him. I knew my mate was out there and would claim me one day which was why I told him I was never going to marry him not when I wasn't drawn to him not to mention that he is a brutal and heartless bastard.

So much of what I do is for him, from helping him study for tests to showing him the video of Wendy going berserk. Sure, I had to attack Wendy in order to make her crazy come out, but Gregory doesn’t need to know about that part. He goes to bolt, but the Silver Hunters grab him and slam him to the floor. I let out a little cry and have to slap my hands back over my mouth. "What do we have here?" The first Silver Hunter—a tall, ass of a person—leans over Gregory and cackles. "You managed to hide for quite a while, didn't you, boy?"

I watched them crumple to the ground and stepped over their dead bodies. Gregory was lying on the bed with Samantha by his side. She was topless and he was running his hands over her. When she saw me, she let out a sigh of relief but I ignored her. I snapped my fingers at her and pointed at the door behind me. She wasted no time in running off. “What rubbish is this?” Gregory asked as he tried to sit up. His eyes caught on the blood on the ground behind me and understanding dawned on his features. “I always knew there was something off about you, boy. I tried to tell Brittany to get rid of you.”

But when I’d cornered him in that abandoned warehouse, when I’d seen the raw grief carved into his young face, I’d recognized something else entirely. “He killed them all,” Gregory had whispered, his voice breaking like glass. “My mother, my sister, my father. Burned our village to cover his tracks.” The weight of loss had bent his shoulders, made him seem smaller than his nineteen years. I could have killed him then. Should have, by all rights. Instead, I’d helped him finish what he’d started. We’d watched Petrov’s car explode together, and from that moment, Gregory had been mine. Not just an employee, not just security.
