He crossed his arms over his bare chest, looking down for a moment before lifting his gaze back to hers. “I should have told you sooner,” he admitted. She tilted her head, watching him carefully. "Told me what?" His jaw tightened, as if he were choosing his words carefully. “The prototype.” Maria frowned slightly. The weight behind that word alone sent unease crawling up her spine. Luca ran a hand over his face before finally speaking. "It's called Prototype H²O. A highly advanced engine designed to run on water instead of gas." Maria blinked. "Water?"

"And what if I say no? What will you do then? Kill me?" The moment her words fell, the knife plunged deep into her throat. Blood erupted like a fountain, staining everything in its path. Before any of us could react, it had already soaked through her dress, through his hands, turning the two of them into one grotesque figure of red. Natasha's eyes widened in disbelief. "You… you really dared to…" Lance let out a broken laugh, one that sounded more like a cry. "You pushed me this far. What else do I have left to lose?"

“Please let this be real. Please don’t take them away from me.” A warm breeze stirred the air around me, carrying the scent of jasmine and something else, something wild and free and full of promise. It felt like an answer. When I opened my eyes, all four of them were standing at the kitchen window, watching me with identical expressions of love and longing and absolute certainty. Five more days.
