She glared into his predator's eyes, glared down at the place where his long fingers were crushing the bones in her slender wrist, felt the ready tears burst into her eyes and the frustration alter to despair. Felt horrid, useless, fed up, and lonely.
“To help Mr. Bradshaw in the garden,” Hailee whispered thickly, and yanked her arm, without much success. “Where else would I be going dressed like this?”
He should’ve recognized what she was wearing! He might hate the very sight of her, and he might’ve come to despise her lack of sophistication and good dress sense. but did he really think she would go out dressed like this?
