It’s October and Halloween is around the corner. It’s always been my favorite because it’s surrounded by everything I enjoy. Shane I used to love trick or treating. I’m lucky my parents even let me trick or treat, but I don’t think they could deny me something so basic, especially because other catholic parents let their kids do it. The backyard at Lewis’ mansion was decorated for a party. There were lanterns hanging in the sky and pumpkin lanterns placed on some parts of the ground and on some platforms making it look like a Halloween festival. A banner was placed at the far end of a long dinner table with a painting of a witch with a black tall and pointed hat, a long black coat and pointed ugly shoes sitting on a broom flying over the moon. Atop the painting were the words, ‘a witchy welcome party.’ I raised my eyebrows, looking at Lewis who was as shocked as me. Whose idea was this? The place was dark-themed with decorations of bats and creepy stuff.

“No, I don’t think so. Why? What is it?” “It’s an old Pagan festival. It’s where Halloween came from – it was celebrated on the last day of October, and it marked the end of the harvest season. It was also the night when the veil between worlds was at its thinnest.” “You mean, like, ghosts and stuff?”
