Halsey looked at me tenderly. "My name is Catherine!" "Catherine? I've heard that name before. It's so familiar." Halsey frowned. "Perhaps you did. You heard it from your wife, right?" I said self-mockingly. Halsey was stunned. "You... Are you the Lycan King's mate?" I nodded. "That's right. But we broke up since his family found out that I was your daughter. And I've heard about you and Blake's mother." "How could this be..." Halsey was shocked.

Slade sat next to his lawyer. Halsey turned, waving enthusiastically and I gave a small wave back. Trey did the same. Toby looked nervous, he was wearing a suit too, not at all like I’d seen him before. Never seen him in a suit on any of her social media either. She had on a very cute white dress, knee length with a kind of lace over it. She had on light blue stilettos that were probably a couple thousand dollars, a small diamond necklace and little diamond drop earrings. But, she always looked gorgeous and unbelievably put together. She had one of her signature up-dos and flawless make-up. A few minutes later the judge came in, the lawyers both spoke to him.

My blood ran cold, my heart sinking when I recognized the photo of the girl smiling. The room had suddenly become very cold. "Red? Are you alright? You look really pale" Vanessa said, her brows creased. I didn't say anything, I just stared. How? Why? She didn't do anything wrong?

Okay, then. We get out of the car and make our way up the driveway, walking past a blue hatchback. The house is a simple townhouse, well kept, and the yard is relatively clean, save for a few beer cans on the lawn. When we make it to the door, I knock. She stands behind me with her hands shoved deep into her jacket pockets. One thing I have noticed about Jocelynn Sanchez is she does not wear coats. She wears big, puffy jackets that cut off at her waist. She also rarely wears sneakers. Instead, she wears heeled boots that could not be comfortable.

I looked up towards the open doorway of the hidden room and waited. “What’s wrong?” Rem asked though he didn’t take his eyes off of the notes he was going over. However, before I could say anything at all, the high-pitched squealing of a woman echoed out into the library. “Rath!” Rem flinched. I blinked as a tall woman in heels almost skidded around the corner and peered right at me. She had long blonde hair, which fell in natural twirls. Her eyes were that wonderful bright blue, which easily caught my attention. She was drop-dead gorgeous. There was no mistaking her job at all. She was as elegant and as stylish as any model or actress I had ever seen in photos. Perhaps even more so.

I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply, letting the air fill my lungs while I assessed my body and heart. It was only the morning of my birthday, and I knew my gifts wouldn’t manifest until tonight under the bright moon. The fact that it was a Blue moon made my insides tingle. Blue moons in and of themselves were rare. Mix it with the Cold full moon of December, which was always special to witches, made this an extraordinary night. Or, so I hoped.
