Darwin's smile brightened as he opened his eyes this morning and found a text message from his beloved, Vivian. Apparently, his sweetheart had sent birthday wishes since midnight.

He could do so many things to me and there was nothing I could do about it. "Avalyn to earth!" Dawn said, snapping her fingers in front of my eyes. "Huh?" I whispered. Dawn pulled at her hair and fell flat on the bed. "Come on, Avalyn! Listen," She snapped, sitting upright again. "Listen, why don't you think of this as a honeymoon... With the cutest man in the world! Think of this as the night you get liberated! And make sure you take notes because I am going to be learning first-hand experience from you!"

She was in no shape or mood to do so. "I got you something." Demitri said and handed her the jumbo gummy bears. She smiled and took them. "Thanks." she said. "My mom told me what's up. I'm sorry you have to go through.. that." Demitri said. Becca felt so embarassed, but at the same time a weight was lifted off her shoulder. "Yeah, it sucks." Becca said and looked down, rubbing her arms. "I hope you know you're still my hero." Demitri said, cheering her up.

While Monica and I waited outside, I walked over to a vending machine to buy two bottles of water. When I checked my phone, I noticed that Heather and Jared had gone to a hotel to celebrate his birthday. In the photo, she was kissing his cheek, congratulating him on being another year older. He had his eyes closed, making a wish in front of an elaborate, luxurious spread of food. The photo stung my eyes. Naomi was lying in the operating room with her life hanging by a thread. Heather, as the mom, was using her surgery fund to celebrate an outsider's birthday. She had abandoned Naomi at the brink of life and death just to celebrate with another man.

And she softly hummed her answer. ‘Happy birthday, Nora. I promise you that no one will try to hurt you like that guy did.’ She says, and I smile. ‘Thank you, do you feel anything, like if our mate is in this pack?’ I ask. ‘He is not, but I feel like we will meet him very soon. For now, let’s just get to know each other.’ Dawn says calmly, and she is surprisingly relaxing to talk with. After an hour of talking, Nadia knocked on my door and came in without waiting for an answer. She is happy and full of energy, and she jumps into my bed.

“I swear, I’m losing it. I left it right by the time clock. Again.” Anna stood to give her a teasing bow. “I don’t know how they’re going to survive without you and your phone-leaving shenanigans.” Dawn plopped onto the stool next to her and exhaled like she’d just escaped a warzone. “Honestly? They’ll probably throw a party the second I’m out the door. But I am free. It’s over.” “You sure you’re not going to miss it? Even a little?” Anna asked, genuinely curious.

We are lucky to have her in the band. "No reason to say no to a celebration," I said and that was the only thing which Ty must have heard and he even started for its preparation. We all just need a reason to celebrate. It can be accepted though, we work really hard the remaining of our time. We even jam whole night if needed. "But not getting too wasted, we have practice tomorrow," I said remembering the morning incident and the headache from hangover. "Yeah, yeah.." he said busy talking with Rebel.

He has given up getting me to walk faster, and I trudge slowly, following his lead, gripping the life-saver and I whisper to myself that I am strong and will make it to Imperator Seth’s estate. I was born strong, my very name, Dawn, meant to strike fear into the hearts of men. I became brave, realizing that I had seen something that none at the palace had gazed upon; daylight. The closest they would ever get would be whispering my name that demands respect. I smile at the thought of this Just Ray stops, interrupting my plans for dominating the court once I arrive. Sometimes, the presence of certain people can make all the difference. “We will come! I can’t miss my only friend’s baby shower!” Danny grins playfully. “What do you want? A car? An apartment? Name it!” Dawn chuckles softly. “Are you flaunting your money, Danny? I don’t need anything. Just come to the party—I’ll be waiting for you, my friend!” She grins before gently lifting her hem. “I think I should leave now. I’ve stayed longer than I planned,” Dawn says, her voice cracking slightly.

Of course, she was looking forward to seeing him. She texted back: [You better be ready with those snacks.] Maxwell: [Fuck, I forgot the snacks, but hey, I can be your snack.] Dawn’s mouth dropped open. She wondered, ‘Did he just… flirt with me? Or was he messing with me?’ “Probably the latter,” she said to herself. Dawn was getting ready to leave at half-past four when Andi approached her. “Hey, Dawn. It’s my birthday today, and I’m celebrating with some of my friends. Since you’re my first friend here in marketing, I’d like to invite you to Sip & Sing.”
