And then I heard a voice filling my mind. It was similar to being mindlinked, but something about the quality of the voice was both clearer and yet more distant at once. It was fuzzy around the edges, as if the person mindlinking me was very far away. The voice held power, too, power so innate it made my knees weak.
‘Hope is not yet lost,’ said the voice. It was feminine and familiar, but I couldn’t place it. It was not a voice I’d ever heard before, and yet I knew that I knew it. That I knew her.
