Daniel laughed as he stood aside to watch her. Sleeves rolled up above her elbows, she stirred with a look of grim determination. After a minute or two, apparently satisfied things were back under control, she shot him a look. "Green peppers" she said. "Right away" quickly, he scooped the pieces of pepper into his palms and brought them over to her. Leaning over her shoulder, he dropped them into the pan. "Allright?". He stayed there, close enough to feel the warmth of her back against his chest. "Is this a takeover attempt, then?" he asked.

“Stop playing Scarlett. You're not her, and you're not fit to play her.” “Get out. I'll say it only once. If you ever appear in front of me again.” Raphael raised his hand, made the shape of a gun, and aimed the empty barrel at the space between her brows. “You'll be getting a gift from me.” Daphne's body began to tremble, harder and harder, and she forced herself to turn. In the end she all but fled the room. Raphael didn't spare her a glance. He tore open the envelope.

She came here because of me, and she had been trying so hard helping me with practicing my gifts, but it was hard, when someone didn’t have the same thought as me. She had hinted on going back to where she came from, but I had dissuaded her. She had no one and I wished she could find her mate in RedMoon, so all thought about leaving would vanish from her mind. On getting to her room, I noticed the door was ajar. I had checked the training field before coming here, but she wasn’t there. I moved close to the door, hearing some faint sounds from the room. Opening the door I gasped in shock. Daphne was on tiptoes as she clung helplessly to Hank as they kissed, unaware of my presence.

Harper wiped a tear from her own face and hugged me tightly. “Why are you crying, silly girl?” I asked softly. “I’m so happy, Daphne,” she said, her voice catching. “You’ve gone through so much in this pack. You’ve been pushed down, judged, almost lost everything, and now…” she trailed off, overwhelmed with emotion. She held me closer. “I’ve always been your number one fan, Daphne. I always will be,” she whispered. I laughed softly and hugged her back. “I know, Harper. You’re my second love after Theo, obviously,” I teased, making her giggle. The other ladies laughed along, and for a moment, the tension in the room eased.

Daphne's POV I closed the door behind me the moment I stepped into the room. Sapphire jerked in surprise. She had been standing near the mirror, pulling a dark dress over her shoulders. Her hair fell down her back and she turned quickly when she saw me. “Daphne?” she asked, confused. “Why are you—” I didn’t let her finish. I rushed toward her, grabbed her by the arms, pulled her close and kissed her hard. My heart was beating fast and I could barely contain the excitement inside me. When I finally pulled back, I was smiling so wide my cheeks hurt.

Then he raises it to his lips and takes a long drink. Daphne watches as he does, her eyes drifting over the long length of his neck, the drift of his tawny lashes over his cheeks, the way his hair curls, just slightly, at the ends. And as she watches, her stomach tightening, her wolf dodges from paw to paw in her soul, sniffing anxiously. But still, even when she doesn’t find what she wants, the wolf sits back on her haunches and raises her snout to the air. I think it’s him, she says, desperately confused. It has to be – who else could it be? He smells so nice.

Daphne hastened her step as soon as she was in a darker part of the alley, she had been having the feeling that someone had been following her as soon as she left the pub and her instinct continued to tell her not to stay and find out who the person was because it was dangerous. She ran and took another corner but she was stopped by something and before she could react, she was punched in the stomach and sent sprawling on the floor. She hated combat the most, she preferred when she wielded her magic so she tried to gather some energy from around her but she found out that she couldn’t do anything of the sort.

Her eyes opened wide, as if she were in a trance, compelled to divulge the well-guarded secrets she had hidden deep within. "I've always longed for Ragnar to be mine," Daphne's voice trembled as the truth spilled out. "My world crumbled when he introduced a witch as his mate. At first, he told me it was merely for procreation, and I reluctantly accepted. But my heartache deepened when he began developing genuine feelings for her. Despite his past history with witches, his newfound connection with her grew stronger, and I felt cast aside."
