So I take a step back and try to change the subject. “Anyway, this matchmaking thing is kind of weird, isn’t it?” I say with a laugh. “I mean, who knows what kind of person they will match me with? Some kind of stalker or psychopath, probably.” Jace nods in agreement and follows me as I enter the room where the matchmaker lady is waiting for me. She looks up from her table with a smile.

Forrest's ensuing messages seemed to challenge her to a one-on-one duel, which she gladly accepted. The two discussed the terms of their competition, agreeing that the person who collected the most in-game items would be the winner. Yaslyn's skills and speed were notably superior. Gosh! even the title of the game was boring. “In this game, two partners would be randomly selected to take part in five test. “We need another couple for the games!” We didn’t have a chance to react before the woman was already herding us toward a circle of couples sitting on blankets spread across the cobblestones. The first game involved cards—a Bloodmoon version of a matching game that required both partners to work together to remember which cards had been played. Andrei and I fumbled through the first round, laughing when we inevitably chose the wrong cards. “You’re supposed to be remembering the red ones,” I hissed under my breath as Andrei reached for a blue card.

I grabbed her other hand and settled in for a dual marathon event: Harry Potter movies and the winner of the Waiting Game. Damn, I'm glad she crashed into Thane.
