Alexis raised his other hand and threw a stream of power at the Wraith, a devil dog as big as the largest Hybrid Wolf, its yellow eyes glaring hungrily as saliva dripped from its oversized teeth. When Alexis' power touched it, the beast flew backwards and disappeared into the portal with an angry yelp. But in that moment, King began to sink into the abyss! Alexis bared his teeth and focused his power on King, who began to rise again. "We can't let the Wraiths out of the Underworld!" I screamed. A small Wraith no larger than a butterfly escaped the portal and flung itself at a white-faced Master level Neratomay, who grabbed her face where the Wraith landed.

“She is My Lord,” Crystal stretched out her hand, and a chain made out of Chaos was conjured from her hands and latched onto the chains binding the Wraith. The eyes of the Wraith were filled with hatred, and she stared at Crystal intently, as though she could kill her with nothing but her gaze. And why wouldn’t she hate the one who trapped her; especially when she was so close to getting away.

[Elara's POV] [Lost her memory of past few days] I backed away as the creature launched its attack. Clutching the sword from the temple, I struck at it, but the blade passed through its misty fog as if it were nothing. I knew it wasn’t my mother. The Echo Wraith always appeared as a familiar face—a loved one, a long-lost friend, or a figure from the victim’s past—only to grotesquely distort and morph into a disturbing mask of anguish or malevolence. The expressions on its face are exaggerated and twisted, reflecting the lies and deceit it preys upon. One moment it might seem sorrowful, and the next, it could sneer with malevolence. He’s summoned the Wraiths.” Before Kael could ask, the first shape appeared, tall, skeletal, cloaked in black smoke. Eyes like embers burned in the darkness beneath its hood. Then another. We walked out the door and got in identical cars to head to the castle. When we got there, we walked with grandpa to the dungeons. I asked grandpa, “Has he been held in the magic proof cell?” He replied, “Of course, sweetie. Should we call Queen Aja?” I replied, “I would really like that. I think I just need that assurance.” He agreed, “I think that’s a really good idea. I’ll get her here.” He led us to the dark warlock’s cell and the man grinned, “So it was your body doubles that I followed last night.” I nodded, “How do you know which one is which?” He replied, “I don’t. I’ve never met the real princess before, so I wouldn’t begin to know which is the real pair.” Just then, Queen Aja walke

Dorian leaped in front of James, taking a blow that sent him skidding across the ground, blood spraying from his shoulder. Elias howled, lunging again, but he was slowed.

Its body was wrapped in black robes, face hidden beneath a cracked porcelain mask with runes etched into its surface. I froze. Another emerged from behind it. And another. There were four in total. Wraiths. Bound spirits twisted by dark magic. Bryan stepped in front of me. “Stay behind me,” he muttered, his voice suddenly colder than the air itself. One of the wraiths raised its hand, and the fog hissed, curling upward like smoke from a fire. The runes on its mask glowed a deep crimson. “Don’t let them chant,” Bryan growled.

A shadow looms over me and Gwen lets out a muffled shriek. I spun, my magic zapping along my palms. I expect to see the vampires that Zane has recruited. Instead, it's an inky blackness that undulates in front of me. Taking a step back, I stumble as the thing drifts closer to me. "What is that?" my voice cracks. "It's a wraith." I'd vaguely heard of those, but why was Gwen so terrified of it? She had faced down half a dozen vampire ghosts, but trembles and backs away from this thing.

Vasilisa was packing her grimoire, wrapping it up with a large piece of gold cloth she had found. "Why Latin?" said Vasilisa. "Because it's a dead language and everybody likes to use it to summon a spell, like Harry Potter," Ruslan said. "Who's Harry Potter?" the sorceress asked. "He's a wizard," Ruslan chuckled. "Why haven't I heard of him before?" "Because he's probably in another crazier universe than this, that's why," Cassandra interrupted. "If you want old, there's plenty of languages older than Latin," Vasilisa said to Ruslan.
