Jax growled low, tail twitching, muscles taut, ready to strike at the first sign of danger.
The enemy was testing, cautious, unseen, and I moved with quiet precision, leading a small strike, letting Derek and Jax flow beside me, hands brushing mine at every turn, heat and instinct coiling tightly. A wolf crossed our path, unaware of the child’s pulse threading through its mind, instinct bending subtly, slowing, hesitation flashing in the animal’s eyes before it darted away. I inhaled sharply, letting the thrill coil through me, pressing closer to Jax and Derek, letting energy spiral between us.
