But I did not know if it was good or bad. "Tell that again." He asked me. "You heard me," I said as I started to fiddle with my fingers. Why is he asking me to repeat again? " I know. I want to hear it again." he said, still in a daze. I was wondering why he was asking me to say again but nonetheless I said it again. "I want to give us a chance." I repeated again. His shocked face turned into a grin. I was able to see all his white shining teeth.

“Don’t lie.” “What do you think?” I asked. “I think…. you loved it. You know what else I think?” I gave a little shrug. “I think you’re going to want to do it again, no matter how annoying we are to you.” I squint my eyes in thought. He may be right, but I also recognized he brought this up as a distraction.

"I understand why you did it before. I'm asking you not to do it again." A long pause. "I'll try," he said. Not a promise but I accepted it.

“Don’t do that again.” “You have my word.”

I say irritably. "But I don't think it was him." Reuben declares firmly. "Huh?" Confusion swirls in my features. "Yes, it wasn't." He nods his head again like he's trying to convince himself. "It wasn't him." He repeated, sounding more convinced. "Explain." A sharply spoken command.

“What to say I wouldn't have done it again?” Briefly, I saw the hurt flash in his eyes. He didn't back down though. “What happened between us, was meant to happen. Don't you see how the universe somehow keeps bringing us together? I don't know why you keep trying to ignore it,” He pulled me closer to him. “After you left, a day didn't go by that I didn't think of you. I couldn't sleep. I couldn't rest. It didn't help that the man you had to live with has little regard for you.”
