I nestled into his side.
“Now,” I continued, lifting a finger in warning, “tell me one of your grandmother’s stories, but not one that involves a tortoise.”
His brows lifted, mock-offended. “What do you have against tortoises?”
“They’ve had enough airtime. I swear, if I hear one more story about a clever tortoise outsmarting everyone, I'll cut off my ears.”
He gasped dramatically. “Tortoises are wise creatures!”
