He recounted their shared past in soft whispers, trying with all his heart to stir something inside her, to bring back even a flicker of what once was.
But her memory remained a blank slate.
"Charles," she asked one day, her voice light with confusion, "what have I forgotten? Why does it feel like… like there's a hole in my heart?"
Charles looked at her, his voice low and filled with ache. "Maya… you've forgotten someone. Someone who used to mean a great deal to you."
She frowned, trying to reach into the void—but found nothing.
