MARTIN SANDERS The rain had long stopped by the time they finally got home. The air was cooler now, carrying the faint smell of wet earth as they pulled up into the driveway. Jake picked his way across the wet grass, using the flickering porch light guiding him toward the door. Balancing two grocery bags in his arms, he kicked the door open and stepped inside. “Careful with the nails,” he muttered. “The box already tore.” Ethan followed quietly behind him, nodding absentmindedly to his brother's words. He was still lost in his thoughts, tangled somewhere between the scene with Aaron, the group message about Blake and Roseanne, and the mess sitting heavy in his chest.

Anyway, she was a new nurse so there's no way she'd know the man up to the point where the pain would reach her bones, compared to Jake who bent low, wrapping his head in hand. “Tell Mrs. Naomi to do that,” he muttered under his breath, shutting the door immediately the nurse left, and he walked up to the phone, removing the call from hold. “So what was the–” “Mr. Hendrickson was involved in an accident, and his leg had to be amputated,” Jake said flatly, cutting Damon off mid-sentence. Damon froze, his throat tightening as the words sank in. “Wait… what?” His voice cracked, disbelief etched across his face. “Are you telling me this is real? Nah, you can’t be serious.”

After wishing Wayne well and asking him to keep us updated I headed back down to the interrogation room while Alpha Rick returned to his room. “Wake up!” I roared at the man as I threw a bucket of water over him. “You and your mate will die for what you have done to me, you will both suffer, and it will be glorious” he spat earning himself another punch. “Who are you and who sent you, be warned my patience is wearing thin and I don’t do well with insubordination” I say as I walk around him using just a hint of my alpha tone. “Jake Anderson, yes I know exactly who you are. If you think you scare me then I’m afraid you are mistaken. Who I am is nothing to do with you. Now here’s what’s going….

I couldn't give him that life but Heidi could. "I'm afraid that once Dane woke up you won't be here", said Jake. "What?", I asked him shocked. How did he know? "I meant that you would turn into dust like deaths shown in marvel movies", said Jake. "I don't watch those movies so I won't understand that reference", I said with a smirk. "You look like the health care workers during the time of covid though I appreciate their work the suit is reminding me of the apocalyptic days", said Jake as a joke.
