I mumbled with a forced laugh. He let out a low chuckle as we finally walked through the massive front doors. I nearly tripped. The ceiling was thirty feet high, all cold stone and heavy shadows. Long black curtains hung from the windows, the fabric pooling on the floor like spilled ink. A huge banner with the Silverback wolf hung on the wall, looking down at us. In the middle of the room sat a wooden table so big it looked like it was carved from an entire forest. The chairs were scarred and worn. This wasn't a place for cozy dinners. It was a place for war councils and blood oaths.

I had heard about runes while staying at the Blood Moon pack house, but I had never seen one until now. The air seemed thick with magic that pressed against my skin. The same feeling I felt when I touched the barrier. Blackstone columns rose from obsidian floors veined with silver, and at the centre, a circular table was situated—seven chairs, one throne—Damon’s. His seat dwarfed the rest—dark, carved with wolves, crowned in Moonstone. Just as in the Blood Moon pack, there were large portraits on the wall. Some were cracked while some were intact. I believed those pictures of past heroes or betrayals. I could be wrong, though.

I try to wiggle my numb wrists and fingers, but the restraints remain unyielding. There's a single light bulb illuminating this room, and there's a wooden table in the middle of the room. On this table lie different kinds of glinting metallic weapons. Most of them have spikes, while others appear as though they can slice through skin and bone. The mere sight of them makes me sick to my stomach. "Dash," I whisper, hoping that my mate will be able to hear me. Nevertheless, he's too out of it to actually hear me. It doesn't help that he looks so pale.

The blacksmith stall smelled like smoke and iron. I loved it immediately. Heavy tables were covered with tools, horseshoes, nails, and rough chunks of raw ore that glinted under the hanging lanterns. A few finished blades sat further down the display, their polished surfaces reflecting the warm festival lights. Bjorn wasn’t there tonight. Instead, a broad older shifter worked the stall, carefully weighing small chunks of ore for another customer. I hovered near the end of the table, studying the raw metals laid out on a cloth.

Dex wouldn’t let me give this opportunity away. “Answer him,” Dex growled from inside like he knew I’d try to shy away from the job. “Yes, Alpha Brian,” I said with much conviction. A table sat in the middle of the room; and accommodated fourteen chairs. Steel is designed to look smooth with rounded edges sculpted with wavy designs attached to it. Mother sat at the head of the table while Alpha Brian sat at the other end. They sat with smirks on their faces when they saw I remained standing.

Even by my standards, this is over the top but anything that helps in putting down Dominic is a win for me. The room is enveloped in a dark gray color scheme that reminds me of a moonless night sky, with a polished black marble floor that subtly shines in the light, reflecting the sleek silver legs of the conference table. At the far end of the room stands a proud bronze statue of a wolf, mounted on a black marble base with intricate details highlighted, from its sharp claws to its textured fur, everything screams power.

I knew his dragon could snap any of them to pieces in just a millisecond. Just off into the trees, a large hut that sat at the bottom of a tree with giant roots sat quietly. The roots engulfed the entire structure, weaving it into the landscape. As we entered, the door let way into one giant room with the biggest mahogany table I had ever seen. It was solid, huge. I could imagine they had to build the structure around this large table because men or women lifting this bad boy wasn’t happening.

It was entirely cased in a sleek black color, blue lines ran through the mainframe that gave off a light hue to the room, but with the lights, it was faded out. The entire table massive and wide as well. The skirts of the table, that was an impressive nine feet in width, held in multiple removable hard drives, and network ports that were filled with different colored cables that did different things. The base of the tower of networks stood an impressive six feet in height, and little over three feet in width.
