Gunfire exploded all around us as we advanced. Helios moved like a shadow—low, fast, deadly. I followed, my back to his as we cleared the area one target at a time. Bullets pinged off the concrete. Someone screamed nearby, a horrible, choking sound that I didn’t have time to dwell on.
We made it to the armory building. Helios kicked the door open, motioned me inside. “Reload. I’ll cover.”
The room smelled like oil and metal. I swapped out my magazine, grabbed a grenade belt, and shoved it over my shoulder. By the time I turned, Helios had already picked off two more enemies at the door.
