I thought we were just coming here to finalize not–" “You move product through ports that attract heat," Mateo cut me off, pulling the cigar from between his lips. "We don’t need that kind of attention.” “You already have it,” I replied coolly. “You’re just pretending you don’t.” Daniel scoffed, his fingers tapping on the table with impatience. “You’re younger. Ambitious. You're no new person to us, Enricho. You're a dangerous man. Why should we bind ourselves to someone who might drag us into wars we didn’t start?”

“I’m not standing here alone with any of them though, am I?” Clearing his throat, still dense with lust, he sighed. “If I tell you, I put you in danger.” Zoe rolled her eyes. “Oh please, as if that isn’t the oldest line in the criminal’s handbook.” “It’s the truth.” “So, you just expect me to believe that I’m not in a dangerous situation right now?!”

Henry started the car and drove off. "Henry, are we safe in the car?" Regina asked, trembling. Henry gripped the steering wheel tightly. "We're safer inside the car than out." They sped down the road, Henry focused on driving. Regina, sitting beside him, tried to calm herself despite her shaking. A tense atmosphere enveloped them, accompanied by the roar of the car's engine. "We need to stay alert. Don't open the windows or doors for any reason," Henry instructed Regina. Regina pondered for a moment. "I never imagined our lives would turn out like this. How did I get dragged into this mess? If I hadn't agreed to marry you, I wouldn't be in this terrifying situation."

“Did he see the babies?” “I don’t know.” Nicholas shoved Gabriel backward. “You know, for a man who has been hiding for twenty-four years, you know remarkably little.” Gabriel’s face hardened. “I know enough to understand why most of the people who knew more are dead.” That stopped everyone. I looked at the photograph. “Then Henry is dangerous.” “Yes.” “And we’re supposed to meet him at midnight.” “No.” I stared at Gabriel. “We are.” “No.” “You don’t get a vote.”

He looked up, lip trembling slightly. “But Dad is.” I winced. Yeah, Fernando had been harsh. He was still fuming in the front seat, his jaw clenched like it was wired shut. Ashley’s brows furrowed as she kept glancing his way. “He’s just worried,” I told Henry gently. “We all are. But you need to understand—talking to strangers, especially when we don’t know if we’re being followed or watched, it’s dangerous.” Henry nodded slowly. “He was nice and he asked me normal questions.”

It might be stupid, but I’m desperate. “Well, little Nevaeh, we know this because your boyfriend has made someone very angry, and we’re here to make sure he suffers,” Henry replies gruffly as he takes a couple of steps closer. I follow his movements as he continues to circle me. It’s only when their eyes begin to glow red and their hands become claws that I realize what kind of trouble I’m in.

“…At Velvet Fang.” Everything inside me stilled. Gunfire. Chaos. Blood. The memory hit sharp and fast. My gaze locked onto the retreating car—now distant, but not gone. Something in the air shifted. I leaned back slowly, my eyes darkening. “Turn around.” Henry hesitated. “…Sir?” “Follow that car.” His grip tightened. “Sir… that’s how it started last time.” I didn’t blink. “I don’t care.”

“T-The drug wasn’t mine! I-I was just following—” “Who planned this?” Alex’s voice lowered further, turning cold and deadly. Henry’s lips trembled violently. He felt genuine terror and fear for the first time in his life. Because the man standing before him no longer looked rational. He looked dangerous. Perhaps monstrous. “I-I don’t know everything!” Henry stammered desperately. “I swear—” Suddenly, Derek’s phone vibrated sharply in the tense silence. He immediately answered. But after only hearing a few words, his expression changed instantly and he turned to look at Alex.

Matthew said. "Got it, boss," River replied before disappearing in the opposite direction. Henry trailed behind her, his heart racing. They were both scared of being spotted by anyone. One mistake and they both would be dead meat. Unfortunately, neither of them was experienced in handling guns, and Henry was a complete beginner. His brother had just started teaching him how to use guns when they were kidnapped by Matthew's men. As they entered the room, River felt a chill run down her spine. This was the place where all of their enemies' secrets were kept.
