The sound vibrated through his chest and into mine. That reminder hit me like cold water. The raid was still happening. These men were tearing through his house right now, and Henry was losing control. A twisted spark of hope lit up inside me. If they found some illegal drugs, documents, whatever then this could be my way out. Professor Roger would have to separate us. No more forced partnership. No more Henry Williams ruining my life. But that hope was quickly drowned out by the fear crawling up my throat. Because right now, Henry looked dangerous. Really dangerous.
