LOGINLUCIEN'S POV
“Virgin.”
The word detonated in my mind.
I pulled back instantly, like I’d been burned.
“What?”
Her voice trembled, fragile in a way that didn’t belong to her.
“I’ve never done this before…”
For a second, only the word echoed—I couldn’t even hear myself breathe.
“How old are you?” My voice came out rougher than intended.
“Twenty-three…”
Twenty-three.
Untouched.
My mind went blank.
I stood so fast the bed creaked beneath the sudden shift. How could I have been so rough with her?
Her innocence… untouched until now.
I’d never made a mistake like this before.
The room felt suffocating—tight, loud and wrong.
I walked—no, stormed—into the bathroom, shutting the door behind me harder than necessary.
My hands were shaking.
I stared at my reflection.
Unfamiliar.
Unsteady.
“How the hell…” I muttered.
I dragged a hand down my face, but it didn’t ground me.
Nothing did.
Then I looked down.
And saw it.
Blood. Fresh. Bright.
“Fvck.”
The word tore out of me as my fist slammed into the tiled wall.
The impact barely registered.
I turned on the tap, water rushing over my hands, washing the evidence away, but not the weight sitting in my chest.
My wolf was restless.
Agitated.
Not hungry.
Not satisfied.
Something else.
Something I didn’t recognize.
I dressed quickly.
Too quickly.
Like I was trying to outrun something that had already caught me.
By the time I stepped back into the room, she hadn’t moved much.
Still curled into herself.
Still holding the sheets like armor.
Her voice reached me before I could stop walking.
“Where are you going?”
I didn’t look at her.
“Business call.”
A pause.
“What?”
“It’s urgent.”
Silence stretched, thin and fragile.
Then…
“Can I leave?”
That question.
It hit differently now.
Because if she knew why I was leaving, she’d realize something dangerous.
Weakness.
An Alpha never shows weakness.
My voice hardened instantly.
“You’re staying.”
“But—”
“I paid for the night.”
The words sounded colder than I felt.
Another pause.
“…okay.”
I turned toward the door.
Stopped.
“Clean yourself up,” I added without looking back. “I’ll be back.”
Then I left.
One thought pounded inside my skull:
She was innocent.
And I had just destroyed her first night.
My jaw tightened.
For the first time in years…
I felt something dangerously close to guilt.
The feeling clawed at me, sharp and raw.
I hated it. Hated her innocence. Hated Myself.
But most of all… I hated how much it terrified me.
The night air hit me like ice.
But it wasn’t enough.
Nothing was enough to quiet the storm building inside me.
One thought kept circling, relentless and unforgiving…
She was innocent.
And I had just taken that from her.
My phone buzzed.
I answered without checking.
“What?”
“Alpha,” Markus's voice came through, amused. “Guess you’re done. Our turn to teach that girl a lesson, right?”
I stopped walking.
Slowly… I lifted the phone back to my ear.
“Markus .”
My voice dropped.
Not loud.
Not angry.
Worse.
“Go near that room…”
Silence.
Heavy.
“…and I’ll rip your throat out myself.”

ADRIAN’S POV
“Damn it…”
The hallway refused to stay still.
Walls tilted.
Lights blurred.
And my head—
Felt like it was splitting open from the inside.
I dragged a hand down my face, exhaling sharply.
“This is why you don’t drink.”
But tonight?
Tonight didn’t follow rules.
Because if I stayed sober… I’d think.
And if I thought… I’d remember her.
Isabella.
Her voice.
Her certainty.
Her control.
My jaw tightened.
“No,” I muttered. “Not tonight.”
I moved forward, one hand braced against the wall. Step by unsteady step.
The executive floor stretched endlessly, door after identical door, polished and lifeless.
Too perfect.
Too controlled.
Just like the life waiting for me.
“One… two… three…”
I lost count halfway.
Didn’t care.
Didn’t want to.
I pressed my forehead briefly against the wall.
“Get it together, Adrian.”
No response.
Just noise.
And Isabella’s voice—
‘You’re mine.’
My hand clenched.
“I’d rather burn everything down,” I whispered, “than belong to you.”
Then—
The lights cut out instantly.
No warning.
No flicker.
Just… gone.
“What the…”
Darkness swallowed everything.
No direction.
No control.
Perfect.
I let out a short, humorless laugh.
“Of course.”
I moved blindly now.
Fingers grazing the wall.
Every step uncertain.
Until—
A handle.
Cold beneath my palm.
Finally.
“Good enough.”
I didn’t check the number.
I just opened the door—
—and stumbled inside.
The door slammed shut behind me.
Darkness again, but different… warmer, heavier.
Then I felt it.
A presence.
My eyes adjusted just enough to make out a shape on the bed.
Still.
Waiting.
My breath caught.
“No…”
My voice dropped, strained.
“Not here… not again.”
I stepped closer.
Slowly.
“Isabella?”
No answer.
Of course.
She never answered when it mattered.
A bitter laugh slipped out.
“You really don’t know when to stop, do you?”
Another step.
Closer now.
The outline sharpened.
Soft curves beneath the dim emergency glow.
Something felt off.
Different.
But my mind—fogged, heavy—refused to cooperate.
“Why are you doing this?” I demanded.
Silence.
Then she moved.
Slowly pushing up.
The sheet shifted.
Bare shoulders caught the faint light.
Confusion cut through the haze, Sharp and unwelcome.
“Isabella…what are you doing?”
Her voice came irritated and strained.
“I’m not in the mood for this tonight, Lucien. Stop calling me Isabella.”
Everything stilled.
My thoughts.
My breathing.
My pulse.
Lucien?
“What…?”
I blinked hard, forcing focus.
“You’re even denying your name now?” I said, voice unsteady. “And who the hell is Lucien?”
My grip on reality tightened.
“I’m not that drunk. I know who I am.”
A beat.
“I’m Adrian.”
She stood abruptly.
Too fast.
Then flinched—like something hurt.
“Please…” she said, frustration bleeding through. “I don’t have time for whatever this is. You asked me to wait. Now you’re acting like I don’t belong here?”
Her voice cracked slightly.
“I just need you to finish what you started… and pay me.”
Something twisted in my chest.
Wrong.
This was all wrong.
But the alcohol, the anger, the lingering ghost of Isabella— It all blurred together into something dangerous.
Maybe this was the only way to end it.
To make her stop.
To make everything stop.
I stepped closer, my hand pressing against her shoulder.
“Fine,” I murmured, low and controlled—but just barely. “This is the fifth time you’ve thrown yourself at me without shame. And this time… I won’t back away. If this is what it takes for you to leave me alone, Isabella…”
My grip tightened, just enough to draw her attention.
“Then you’ll regret ever asking for it.”
ARIEL'S POV The room is still dark when Lucian's lips find mine in a deep, hungry kiss. His kiss was patient, almost reverent as his body held carefully above me as if I might break. The soft silk sheets are cool against my skin, but his body is warm like a fire. He leans over me, his familiar weight both comforting and safe.I arch my back, pressing my bare chest against his, trying to wake something wild inside him. I want him to stop treating me like a fragile piece of glass. But he only kisses me gently, slow, soft, and careful. That is the problem. He is always so careful. Even after five years, his dark eyes still hold the same deep hunger, yet he keeps holding himself back. This morning, something inside my chest finally gave way."Stop," I say, gently pushing against his chest. He freezes at once. A few strands of his silver hair fall over his eyes as he searches my face, afraid he has hurt me."Did I—""You never do anything wrong." I lift my hand to his jaw and make him loo
ARIEL'S POVThe remote is shaking in Lucian's hand before I even understood why.His knuckles have gone white around the plastic, and for a man who once watched his own guards die without blinking, that small tremor scares me more than anything on the screen.I follow his eyes back to the TV, where Isabella Moretti is being walked down a courthouse staircase in handcuffs, her hair perfect, her face empty, cameras stroking white against her skin like she's still posing for something. Behind her, further down the steps, a man in a rumpled suit gets shoved into another car — Mayor Moretti, no title left to hide behind now, his tie crooked, his mouth moving in words the microphones don't catch."Turn it up, that's Drake," Adrian says, and I still flinch a little every time I hear that name out loud, even now that the man attached to it is ash and paperwork.Lucian turns it up. The anchor's voice fills the room, crisp and merciless;“Sources confirm the murder weapon matches wounds found o
ISABELLA'S POVI step into the marble foyer, and for a second I don't understand why the print looks so dark against the white floor. My hands are still trembling from the drive home, jerking on the wheel every time a siren passes, and I don't even register that I'm dripping until my mother's voice cuts through the fog in my head."Bella." My mother's voice sharpens, the way it always does when something threatens to embarrass her before it threatens to hurt me. "What is that on your shoe?"I look down. My heel has left three small red prints across the floor, perfect little crescents, like something out of a crime scene photo. I don't answer. I can't. My nanny appears out of nowhere the way she always does, hovering with a towel already in her hands, and I shove the heels at her chest without a word."Throw these away," I say, and my voice comes out steadier than I feel. She doesn't ask questions. Miss Vane never does. That's why I keep her.I make it as far as the sitting room befo
LUCIEN'S POVI stopped fighting three days ago.The chains dug into my wrists deep enough that I couldn't feel my fingers anymore, and every time one of Drake's men came down those stairs, I let them hit me.I didn't raise a hand. I didn't growl. My father's soldiers took turns like it was a shift schedule, fists and boots and the occasional blade edge across skin that used to heal fast and now just bled slowly, and I let every one of them land because I had already decided something in the dark that made the pain feel almost fair.I wasn't fit to be anyone's father.Ariel had survived nine months carrying my son with nothing from me but silence and a debt she never asked for, and somewhere out there Adrian was doing what I never learned how to — showing up, staying, choosing her without conditions attached. What had I ever given her except a night she didn't remember choosing and a lifetime of running from men like my father?A boy deserved better than a king who dealt in blood money
ARIEL'S POVMy son's mouth pulled at my breast, small fists kneading the air like he was still deciding whether the world deserved his trust. His brows were barely formed, but he had Lucian's frown already. Three days old and he frowned exactly like his father when someone brought him bad news.I traced his cheek with one finger."You're going to be trouble," I whispered. "Just like him."The room was quiet except for the small sounds babies make — the soft pull of feeding, a hum in his throat when he was pleased. Evana's voice came back to me anyway, uninvited, the way bad thoughts do at three in the morning. What if he's not out there fighting? What if we're praying over nothing?"No." I said out loud, to the empty room, like saying it would make it truer. "He's not dead. I'd feel it." I didn't know that. Not really. I just needed it to be true so desperately. My eyes burned before I understood why. I wiped at them with the back of my wrist, annoyed at myself, and that's when somet
ARIEL'S POVI woke to an empty bassinet and my own scream still hanging in the air."Where is he?" I was already off the bed, wires ripping from my arm, my legs buckling under me before Evana caught my shoulders. "Where is my son?""He's in observation," the nurse said, too fast, too bright, the kind of voice people use when they're lying to a child. "Standard procedure after a difficult delivery. Nothing to worry about."I didn't believe her for one second. I made her walk me to the nursery myself, one hand gripping the IV pole like a weapon, and when we got there, the crib they pointed to was empty and cold like it had never held a baby at all. Another nurse checked the log. Then another. Nobody could tell me which room he'd been moved to, which doctor had signed for him, which floor. The window at the end of the hall was open, curtains snapping in the wind, and the nurse who'd carried him out of the delivery room twenty minutes earlier was nowhere in the building."The cameras," a
ARIEL’S POVPain exploded through me, deep and unrelenting.“Damn it…”I hissed, gripping the edge of the bed as my thighs trembled. It felt like my body didn’t belong to me anymore. Every shift sent a slow, heavy ache through my lower stomach. Even breathing hurts. And him…That arrogant, cold, im
ARIEL’S POVThe moment his fingers tightened around my wrist, the last thread of restraint snapped.Lucien Drake’s breath brushed my lips as he leaned closer, his voice low and dangerous.“You have two choices,” he murmured. His thumb pressed against the pulse in my wrist like he could feel my hear
ARIEL'S POVThe moment I said no to the one million dollars that could save my mother’s life… I knew I might be killing her myself.“Damn you and your VIP client,” I spat, my voice sharp enough to slice a glass.“I don’t need a rich man to save my mother. I don’t need your money.”Before the manag
