“This better be good.” The door swung open, revealing Henry, dressed in a meticulously pressed gray suit and carrying a collection of fancy, well-coordinated shopping bags. Mr. Henry was a funny looking man. Yes, one could see that he had money and his entire body showed it very well but the was just something about him that was funny looking. “Argh! You are a hopeless case!” I was about to enter the pantry when I heard Mr. Huntington’s lowly deep chuckle. “Don’t forget to bring me some hot coffee, Ms. Merrywheather. And remember to call me on that suggested name you have.” I closed the door. Then I clenched my hands. I acted like Mr. Huntington is in front of me then punched my fists in the air. I had never been so annoyed with a guy! I never knew that Mr. Huntington has this kind of attitude! I thought he was just eerie, intimidating, and scary... but he was very irritating to even talk with.

He let the question linger for a moment, but then shrugged it off, deciding it wasn’t his concern cause he'd eventually find out. "Whatever it is," he said aloud with a small yawn, "I just hope they catch me faster. I'm starting to get bored waiting for them." Pushing himself up from the chair, Henry stretched lazily and headed to the small kitchen area. His body ached for real food, but he was too tired to make anything decent, so he grabbed a packet of instant noodles instead. As the water boiled, Henry leaned against the counter, lost in thought again. "So... what's Cassia doing now?" he mused, a sly glint flashing through his eyes. "Still flirting like always?"

I stared at the broken glass with zero emotion, then at my bleeding hand. And as my gaze stayed fixed on the scene before me, that wicked emotion slowly faded away, replaced by— Emptiness. My ears perked up at the sound of a voice drifting closer and a door shut. But I still didn't move. Even as the footsteps drew closer. “I'm pretty sure you're talking about Thomas Edison, Denise.” Henry said, walking into the kitchen. He paid me a glance before opening the fridge and grabbing a bottle of water. “You're still here?” He asked, twisting open the cap.

I say sarcastically. Manuel pushed off against the wall and walked away from me shaking his head and sighing. Manuel wasn’t so bad. He had long black hair he kept in a ponytail and liked to frequent the club I held in the center of the city. I followed behind him, making him look over his shoulder. “Another forbidden?” He asked scrunching his eyebrows together. “Yep, hate for you all to do your own dirty work,” I answered walking passed him into the doorway. He let out a low growl as I passed. “Sit, I bite back,” I said not being intimidated by the growl.
