Rediscovering Odette
She squared her shoulders and left her room, heading toward the kitchen where Amerie was humming to herself, making coffee.
Odette took a deep breath.
“I need to talk to you.”
Amerie turned, blinking at her. “Okay. Should I be scared?”
Odette hesitated. “I’m going to Russia.”
Silence.
For a moment, Amerie just stared at her, like she hadn’t heard correctly.
Then—
She laughed.
Like, full-body, can’t-catch-her-breath laughter.
Odette frowned. “Amerie.”
“No, no, wait.” Amerie held up a hand, still laughing. “Let me get this straight. You’re going to Russia?”
