I was actually only realizing just now that we hadn't heard of Alpha Park. "He's well, we are looking to get a new beta while trying to get a new healer. Beta Mark was great with healing powers and his job as beta but like my father, he's getting old. If he had a son, he would have taken over but Doe cannot be beta." He shook his head, "it's a whole lot of complicated things going on at the level of the high ranks, welcome to it." I was laughing at his words and was going to respond when I felt something wrap around my feet. I froze against Alpha Ryan's chest.

The duo's level of alertness was definitely at equilibrium as nobody was giving room for the opponent to strike. Looking at Alpha Marcus, he was fighting with the instinct to kill Shakel. He abhorred the fact that he was betrayed and lied to. He knew quite alright that he was a liar and that is the reason why it pained his heart so badly. Of course, liars hate to be lied to. They seek trustworthy subjects to help them keep to all their dirty secrets.

Still recovering from a shift that had nearly torn him apart. Outside, Silvermark stretched beneath him. The pack grounds were alive. Wolves moved about their duties. Guards patrolled the paths. Somewhere below, someone laughed. Someone else barked an order. Life continued, steady and unaware. Like nothing had happened. Like he hadn’t collapsed. Like the Alpha hadn’t rejected him. His bearing was military. Marcus. The Royal Gamma. Seeing the newcomer, Derek's face lit up with hope. Even beaten nearly beyond recognition, he recognized his savior. "Marcus! Marcus, you finally came!" His voice was desperate. Pleading. He glared at Garrett and my brother through gritted teeth and swollen eyes. "My best friend Marcus is the Royal Gamma. The strongest warrior in this entire territory!" He spat blood. "So what if you're the Royal Beta? As long as the Gamma supports me, you can't arbitrarily strip me of my Alpha position!"

* Mike replies just as the large doors to the throne room open once more. I peer at the Alpha who confidently strides forward. His tall dark frame with familiar green eyes lock on mine and he smiles wide and brilliantly. “Marcus?” I say with a frown because the man is almost the carbon copy of Lamia’s father. “Your Highness,” The Alpha bows, “Alpha Albert of the River Moon pack.” He speaks now nodding his head at Mike as a greeting. Mike smiles and bounces down the steps. “Alpha Albert, it’s a pleasure to meet you finally.” Mike extends his hand to the Alpha who takes it, and they shake vigorously. “My father will be sorry he missed you.”

Soon, Alpha Marcus appeared, surrounded by his pack's loud fighting chants. The Alpha of the Scarlet Valley Pack was a tall, bulky, dark-brown-haired man with blue eyes, which shimmered coldly against his tanned complexion. I scanned his shape, evaluating his strength, and quickly registered that his broader than Draven's shoulders and overgrown muscles could make him a dangerous opponent. When I saw someone from Marcus's pack waving his hand to start the fight, I took a deep breath.

This entire plan hinges on the fact that we get Alpha Marcus as soon as he arrives. Before I can reply to Sammy, Ben screams through the mindlink, “Alpha Marcus is approaching right now. He is a solid gray wolf with a black stripe down the middle of his back. Sammy, you know what to do.” A loud blood-curdling howl suddenly tears through the field.

Alex had never actually seen me angry, and for good reason. A grin formed across the leaders face before he said, "Vivian, you weren't exaggerating. She has more power than I've ever seen. My dear Cassandra Miller, I would like to introduce myself. I am Alpha Marcus Drasus of the Blue Moon Pack here in California. My daughter, you have already met. These other three men are members of my pack. Their names are unimportant at this moment."

She replied, her cheeks reddening at the thought of him being totally naked in front of her. " What's an Alpha and why were you called one? " Alessia asked, curious. "An Alpha is the leader of the pack, if you like he's the boss and he is in charge of everything. I am the Alpha of this pack, so I am in charge." Marcus replied, puffing his chest out in pride. " Do you have a mate? " She questioned again, earning a smirk from Marcus. Walking closer toward her, he nuzzled his face into her neck.

His voice is even but dripping with anger. “And you.” Hank turns to Mason. “You should know better than to engage with assholes like this.” “Excuse me?” One of the men snarls. “I’m Kane Constantine, and this is Axel. We are …” “The Alphas, we’re all well aware of that,” Hank cuts him off bitterly. “Which makes your behaviour even worse. You’d never tolerate a couple of strangers coming into your pack land and behaving like idiots.” Alphas, huh? So, these guys are a big deal.
