Memory's Depths As they sank more into the forgotten depths under the destroyed Empire, the darkness engulfed them. The sound grew louder in the little hallway as Zara's every foot reverberated against the chilly stone walls. The still air pressed down on her chest, making her breathe in quick, shallow gasps. The dim glow from the phosphorescent stone walls was the tunnel's only source of light, creating strange shadows that moved and flickered with every shift.

The edges ragged and jagged tears bit into the words. Lloyd peered close, the rips making it a bit harder to read, as well as the uneven script, written by a hand that had been shaking. The sun is bright. But all around us is darkness. I could have all the gold in the world. The hidden locations are wide open. But the cost is crippling. I had much of it tossed over the side. The weeds can conceal it and the drowned men can have use of it. The beast knows I came close to finding some way out. And the consequence was worse. Their souls, my own and the blood of children. It won't be sated until a hundred or maybe more have been slaughtered.

Her limbs no longer obeyed her. And then, all she heard was the faint thud of her own body hitting the ground. If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow Why, oh why can't I? She fought to keep her eyes open, but her vision was already blurring. Through the haze, she caught sight of a little girl crying…a flash of white dress, a blur of red roses swirling before her eyes. The sounds of sobs and screams grew louder, echoing all around her, until everything faded into darkness.

I could hear the low, pulsing resonance of the Heart even here — as if it was breathing beneath the city. We descended deeper. Each level felt older, colder. Mira scanned a rusted panel and the door slid open with a hiss. A staircase spiraled downward into a chamber of dim blue light. “This is it,” she whispered. “The Deep Layer.” The space was vast — an underground cathedral of metal ribs and glass veins. The Heart’s energy coursed through transparent conduits, lighting up the walls like veins beneath translucent skin. In the center, a large sphere hovered — pulsing softly with every heartbeat in the city above.

"The magic source—it’s coming from underground. Something is buried beneath the town, and it's controlling everything." Jake didn't hesitate. "Then we dig." We rushed toward the town square where the old stone well stood. The moment we reached it, the wind picked up, and a deep rumbling shook the ground. The people around us continued their daily business, oblivious to the chaos unraveling around them. Althea wasted no time. She conjured a spell, and the wooden cover of the well burst into splinters, revealing the abyss below. A thick, dark mist rose from it, carrying with it a foul, decayed scent.

Our wolves stood among the dead, breathing hard. We had won. But something felt… wrong. And then I saw it. A single burning torch, deep in the tunnels of the abandoned mine. A hidden doorway. My breath caught. “They were hiding something,” I whispered. Kael followed my gaze. His eyes narrowed. “Then let’s find out what.” And with that, we stepped into the darkness.

Leaving the kitchen, I thought Dominic had returned to his office, but when I went to his office, he wasn’t there. “Dominic?” I called out. “Over here.” Dominic stood in front of a room at the end of the hall. Instead of a door, the wall had moved, revealing a hidden passage. “I didn’t know this was here?” Walking to the end of the hall, I stepped around Dominic and entered the hidden passage. Without waiting for him, I continued through the passage until I reached a large open room. It was filled with exercise equipment, a couple of large punching bags, and a boxing ring.

Lucas glanced at me but didn't make a move. Wendy hesitated for a moment and then released her grip, looking somewhat embarrassed. The "Heart of the Ocean" ultimately ended up in my pocket. At the post-auction gathering, it seemed Wendy still couldn't fully grasp her position. She walked over gracefully and softly called out, “Director White.” I didn't even look at her, placing the blue diamond in a crimson velvet box. Seeing that I was ignoring her, Wendy forced a smile. She tilted the highball glass in her hand slightly.

The water has the depths of an ocean that is seething with darkness and once the elf slams her body through the opening to the depths below, time stands still. The one spell that isolated her sense of fear and danger is lifted. The elf grabs her throat from being underwater and struggles with breathing. Air bubbles become less frequent until there is none. Suffocation from lack of air stops and her frightened elvish eyes leers upon the darkness of the ocean. There is nothing in sight just an endless abyss… until she witnesses a large shadow that engulfed most of the darkness move which in return makes the pale blue waters nearly shine. Her frightened eyes leer through what just happened but

I touch all over the walls, try removing the floorboard piece, everything, but can't find one ounce of a secret compartment. The elevator dings and when I look at the down and up arrows, I see the down arrow lit up. Someone is getting on the elevator from downstairs. I look frantically and hope I can locate what I need soon. I'm not sure how much longer I can last in here. Lower and lower the elevator falls and that's when it hits me. I look up and see mirrors upon mirrors. My reflection looks that of fear. "Look at yourself when you feel like you can't go on anymore Belle. Find the bravery within."
