Sweet Dreams
She whispers in a fragile but uncertain voice, the word drops like a feather, soft and revealing.
“You’re trying to make this something it’s not,”She breathes, and I see it the hesitation in her jaw, the catch in her throat.
She’s lying to herself, as all women do in the face of desire she refuses to name.
“What is it then?” I murmur, letting the question hang in the space between us.
She doesn’t answer….
Not yet and I don’t expect her to. She doesn’t even know herself, or maybe she does, and the realization terrifies her.
