He was in his sixties with gray hair and kind eyes, and he’d been the pack doctor for over thirty years. “Alpha,” Dr. Williams said respectfully, bowing slightly to Alpha Asher. Then his eyes fell on Luna and his eyebrows raised in surprise. “Luna? What are you doing here?” Luna’s face flushed with embarrassment. “I… I’m not feeling well, Doctor,” she said quietly, looking down at her hands.

“I’m really sorry for scaring you.” His eyes met mine. “Just promise me you won’t sneak out again, especially when you feel weak.” “I promise.” He leaned forward and kissed my forehead. “Good. I do hope you keep your promise this time around.” The door opened again. The doctor walked in with a clipboard, wearing a bright smile that immediately made me suspicious. He looked far too cheerful for someone who usually gave serious updates. “How are you feeling, Luna?” he asked, checking my charts. “Better,” I replied slowly. “Still a little tired.”

Aren't you meant to be attending to her already?!” The doctor looked as though he was on the verge of being diagnosed with a panic attack; he rushed to my side and began to examine me. That alone was as though a huge work for me as my body ached at every turn. I sighed as eventually, he stopped checking my pulses and all; it was as though a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders. I picture the way his hands twitch at his sides, those long fingers curling, flexing, then releasing. “Ahh…” the doctor says and I blink up at him. He smiles and pats my hand, moving towards the bedroom door to open it before I can even ask him what is wrong with me. The door creaks open, Ezra stops moving and I see the doctor closing the door behind him effectively giving me solitude in the bedroom. The doctor’s voice comes through the crack in the door, low and calm. “The Luna is alright.” Ezra exhales. “Then why did she faint?” His voice is rough, frayed around the edges.
