I said, my voice carrying a hint of sarcasm. Thorin chuckled, the sound deep and warm. “You’re impossible.” “And you’re annoying,” I shot back, taking a sip. The wine burned a little as it went down, but it felt good, comforting even. “But I’m right,” he said, sounding smug. “You need rest. Tonight was rough enough.” I laughed a little, shaking my head. “Rest? After what just happened? Not a chance. My head’s spinning, Thorin. That thing… it wasn’t just some animal. It was something else.”

It was as if she had a needle stab right through her. She was face to face with the man that chased her all the way from the alley. He looked disgusting under the yellow light. Willow assumed his teeth were a dark shade of yellow but under the light they looked brown with spots of black. His black eyes narrowed ,as he squinted at her . His long beard and dirty brown hair blew wildly in the wind. He looked as if he was a washed up pirate and this made Willow shiver. The only things he missed was an eye patch and a wooden stump for a leg.

Thane wasn't satisfied with that answer. He unsheathed his dagger, "Thorin—the messenger's name was... Thorin." The man stuttered out. "Good”, Thane says, retreating. “When was the last time you spoke to him?" "Three days ago, that had been before we got into this pack."

CHAPTER NINE -ANTONIO- Thorin nodded, his stern expression softening. He rushed over to Kinnsion and Eris, and for a brief moment the two broke off their make out session. "Prince Kinnsion, Eris," Thorin said urgently, "we need your help with something." Kinnsion frowned, meeting Thorin's gaze before glancing at me and Lady Basia. "What's wrong? Can't you see I am busy with my mate?" he asked, his eyes flickering with annoyance.

Nope, not even compliments. Thorin, for some reason, was blind to it all. He excitedly extended his hand toward Jade, as though hoping she would shake it, and exclaimed, “Good evening, beautiful! I’m Thorin Gerard—oh yeah, you heard right! Thorin means thunder, just like the god of thunder! And Gerard means spear-hard! Put them together and you’ll get a hunk like the god of thunder with a super-hard spear, if you know what I mean!” Jade eschewed sparing Thorin even a scornful snicker and turned away from him. The only reason she had not leaped to her feet and stormed away yet was because she wanted to save Edelgard and Luca’s dignity.

He nodded and stared at me in confusion. “They're spying on the monster's army and throwing spears at it." He added. My heart froze at his words. That was as good as suicide. “And how long has this been going on," I asked. "I dunno. Five days." Thorin's face immediately went pale. "They took my brother and his friend Jack on the second day. My mom still cruises over it." He said sorrowfully. My heart went out to him, and I knelt before him.

The first thought that came to my mind was, 'What was he doing here? “Ohh… don't misunderstand this situation. I'm not Devon. I'm Sebastian, his stepbrother,” the man calmly said, making me more confused. He appeared to have noticed my state of confusion because I heard him chuckle before opening his mouth to explain further. The sound he made when he chuckled made me blush foolishly in embarrassment.

He turned deathly pale. "J—Jonathan... You beast!" Thorin, usually as steady as a mountain, had lost all his previous composure. He pushed himself up from the ground with both hands. He grabbed his phone fiercely, and as he dialed Jonathan's number, he roared hoarsely, "You little beast! You damned mongrel! I wish I could—"
