Flipping off the lights, I head back to the bedroom. Hannah is in the same spot, eyes glued to the page of her book. I take a step towards her... and another... But her gaze doesn’t budge.
Does she see me? I clear my throat, but her focus stays the same. I clear it again, and her eyes fly to meet mine.
"Yes?" she grits out.
"My apologies. I know your hockey boyfriend must be really captivating."
"He is, thank you." The spine slaps against her stomach, irritation digging lines into her forehead.
